Brad about: In Other News....
I think I sent everyone I have an email for a message this morning letting everyone know, that today is my last day with Phillip Markwood Architects. I have accepted a job with MKC Associates and start in a week or so. I am super excited to get back to being busy. Please update your contact info for me to use, bpauling@gmail.com.

Brad about: Bo Duke could've landed that.
moron. how does he survive.  see for yourself.

Brad about: episode in bad driving
So we just had a semi back through our front window. Now mind you our front window is 22 ft high and 12 wide.... Exciting Friday! how do i post a picture?

Brad about: more other news
I watched golic pass the test Monday while laid up at home. he did it with ease like you said in a jog. haynesworth is either really hurt, or a fat waste.

I am somewhat glad to be back at work today, watching another minute of the favre jerk fest would put me over the edge.

Brad about: dead
i have the same problem most times cathryn. it is on and off.

Brad about: so...
holy shit, I am almost crying that is so funny... lay off the peyote, man.

Brad about: futbol
i lost my video right at the moment. didn't see it either. I will watch the replay when I get home tonight.

I loved the move to put Feilhaber in. I think he is one of our best players. things just happen when he is in. I was unimpressed with the Robert Findley show. interesting to see what Bob Bradley does now that Findley is out next game.

Brad about: futbol
that's a fathers day gift! Say thanks son!

Brad about: futbol
alright, landon made up for it.. back to a slim chance.....

Brad about: futbol
terrible marking....stay with your f'in man. why it that so hard for these guys. 3 goals in this cup. all 3 by the same thing. jokers.

Landon proved again why he is useless. open net if he laid out his body. instead he pussy-footed it and the defender was able to clear. if he slid in, that was a goal. it the f'in world cup. Act like you want it. useless fuckers.

Brad about: futbol
best game of the tournament so far.. spain hit the post like 3 times... the swiss countered numerous times and were so close to knocking in a second.

Brad about: futbol
this is an amazing 2nd half. 1st half was terrible. that goal has unleashed spain. it is totally back and forth.. great stuff.

Brad about:
vuvuzela = one of the most annoying sounds ever.

Brad about: College Realignment
maybe i missed something last week being gone, but this reshuffle is happening at a lightning pace. what happen to big ten just adding a school. now the big 12 is almost gone? crazy.

Brad about: world cup
that is a good point that I had forgot.... henry's handball. I will root for Uruguay on principle.

Brad about: world cup
SA gave up a shitty goal, then hit the post from 6 yards in stoppage time. Mexico unimpressed on the world stage again. that is their MO...france this afternoon. Yeah!

Brad about: world cup
espn3 live webcast is bad for my productivity..bub you watching SA v Mexico? Terrific opening goal.

Brad about: ipod
For my money I would go with an iTouch.. they are just so much more versatile. you get a good music player, with most of the other gadgets available to the phone. Alicia would probably die if she lost her iTouch. I just wish they would put a GPS chip in iTouch.

Brad about: TV
Troy in the jock strap...."easy sugar bear. Abhed talk him through the hunger.."

Brad about: electic cars
Seemed like a misguided rant but still funny. Powered on Pixie dust....

In case you didn't know it, Carolla is something of a gearhead. In fact he is co-host on NBC's american Top Gear spin off. I will be interested to how bad it will be, because I don't see how you top or even match the original.

Brad about: horse lady
did anyone else see the NBC horse reporter (the lady that rides on a horse before and after the races) fall off her horse this morning on the today show? Al Rokers fat ass was riding this monster horse and it scared her's, and down she went. funny stuff.

Brad about: NFL schedule
hope everyone has fun with the draft! it tastes pretty bitter that for the second year in a row my team doesn't have a first or second round pick. I guess we culter to show for the first, but the ridiculous move that sent our 2 round pick resulted in the player we picked up dying. its a sad situation but doesn't excuse that we have nothing much to show for it.

Brad about: NFL schedule
Wes, I will throw it out now... any interest in the bears/bills game in Toronto?

Brad about: lawn care
I got a blacker & decker cordless trimmer/edger. Trimming is fine, but I do go through both batteries to do our yard. I hate the cords on electrics, but didn't want to pay for a gas one. I would not recommend it for edging. You really need a blade..

Mow High, Water Deep. That's the best advice. Don't bag your clippings (unless the grass is high and clumping), your taking nutrients away from your soil. We collect all our leaves in the fall and shred them up and compost them. So we limit the stuff we put at the curb.

Brad about: home
Congrats Derek. That is exciting. Welcome to the never ending world of home improvement. Our lists and ideas never seem to get any shorter.

brad about:
If you haven't seen the new Ok Go, mousetrap, rube goldberg video....  chek it out.

brad about: Thews 2.1
Best Wishes. Shoot us something with the details.

brad about: olympics
thats funny Aaron because Alicia said the same thing... She looked up Bode yesterday after his win shout-out to her. She wondered if he was married. He is not, but that doesnt really matter. Did anyone know he doesn't have a high school dipolma? Sounds like he was raised by hippies. He speaks in circles and I always thought it was him being cryptic..guess not. Oh well, he's doing pretty well for himself anyway!

brad about: olympic
I am playing catch up from yesterday....I thought the mens snowboarding was sick. that Vito kid is from bellefontine (Mad River Mountain), but no one know where that is, so columbus it is....Mad River is like a 400 vertical drop but the one thing they have is a good terrain park and halfpipe. So if you cant ski, learn tricks.

That last hill on the womens downhill was crazy. I liked when they slid through the finish line after wiping out. do those times count?

brad about: random topic
So I was reading some on LED light bulbs today.... Did you guys know that they Do Not Attract Bugs. So if you put an LED fixture outside or use an LED camp light you don't get bugs too. Crazy. I guess LEDs dont emit ultravoliet light that attracts bugs.

brad about: Lost Chubbie
Who has two thumbs and 'Lost' Chubbie? This guy. Wes?

brad about: college sports
I would be pro Pitt joining. They want a 12th team. ND said no again for whatever reason. Cinci would be another good choice in my opinion. Both teams have perennial good b-ball teams and it would help boost their football programs (well cinci used too). But as Aaron said, the big 10 wants that 12th team for a football championship.

brad about: trains
i dont want to get worked up. but i am passionately for the rails, but it requires a boat load of money. Our highway system cost a boat load to build too. But we had united leadership that felt it was an investment worth the time and money. some would say that it worked out pretty well. we have to think big and i fear that will never happen again. i'll get off my soapbox.

brad about: trains
one more thing.... Florida is getting a 220 mph average line from tampa to orlando. I4 already has a federally owned easement so its straight and easy get out of the ground. it will be the first line completed and will be our nations fastest....so jeb 'douche' bush was on today this morning. and when asked if he was excited about the propect and technological inovation for his state... his response "i wouldn't know anything about it". his was clueless. what a douche.

brad about: trains
Japan lines run at average of 180 mph Aaron. it is possible. but you have to have dedicated lines and thats expensive.

brad about: trains
i have been a huge proponent of a high speed rail network. Ask Josh. Ohio got the shaft here. We asked for 1.5 billion. we got 400 million. that is start up money yes, but its doesnt buy dedicated track lines. the result. average speed of 79 mph. it will cost more, arrive at the same time to someone or a family in a car. so it will be far less convenient. this is a think big or forget it idea. Without making it better than cars (faster, cheaper) people will not be drawn to use it. i predict that without speed it will fail.

brad about: zzzzzz
looks like it rebounded after the price tag and at&t announcement. overall their stock has doubled since last year, so a little loss is nothing in the big picture. if i had a time machine i would have bought apple in 1999 at $8.30 a share. makes me sick.

brad about: zzzzzz
about what i thought. a big itouch. i wasn't expecting a revolutionary gadget. the power of the iphone and itouch is not in the device itself. the power is in the applications and seemless ease of use. just imagine what developers can do with a device that is the size of a piece of paper.

remember back in college we joked that Cadd would return to full size touch screen drafting desks. a return to drawing with pen to paper in sorts. Steps like this are a big leap forward.

brad about: zzzzzz
yeah, i dont see it as an office device. i am sure there are uses, but i see it much of a lifestyle thing. I look at people watching movies and surfing the web on an iphone and ask myself whats the point. the device is so small it seems odd. i love alicia itouch. but sitting on the couch i long for something bigger.

the tablet is rumored to be going after the kindle market with color graphics. it will destroy the netbooks that are getting popular as that intermediate sized device. now i wont pay $1000 for one, but i can see the allure.

brad about: zzzzzz
i am catching up here from yesterday.... on the tablet front, what does it say that I am far more excited to learn about the tablet today than anything in the state of the union. Steve Jobs outstages the president.

brad about: Fail
As I watched farve hobble off after taking that leg shot I was giddy. I have amble reason to not like him. But watching him throw away everything he's worked for on the last play of the season, perhaps the last of his career (although i doubt it). his fail was so much better than him getting hurt and whatever excuses that could play in his head. I am beyond ecstatic.

brad about: omg
so which guy from the hangover do you think best resembles the sleep talkin man. Crazy all the time Alan. Straight laced except when he is wasted Stu. or Phil? I am going with Stu. I picture him as a boring person by day, but completely awesome in his sleep. split personality like.

brad about: omg
that is a priceless find Abby! i will add that to texts from last night, fail and a host of other ridiculous blogs that are good for a quick laugh.

brad about: project friends
I can score my dad's Navy Dress Whites. I tried to wear it back in high school but did not fit. probably not a problem now. I have been waiting to bring it out for Halloween....

brad about: TV
Did anyone catch Tosh.O last night? i was falling on the couch when the overweight, ninja kid came on... it reminded me of the verbal abuse wes, biggie and nolde threw at that mullet vikings fan at the bears game.

For those that dont know the story, we went to a bears game in college. A loud mouthed viking fan was getting berated so bad for his mullet that he went and bought a bears hat to cover it up...needless to say that only made it worse.

brad about: museum
yeah i think that was greg and daves infamous madden / final fantasy crush days in my dorm room...there was not a day that went by for like a week straight that he was not a 3rd roommate, always playing playstation.

brad about: museums
mine was a visitors center and history museum... did i make up that program?

brad about: museums
3rd yr in the penguins class we did a akron history museum....

brad about: keurig coffee
we put a industrial k-cup brewer in a church recently in a cafe like place. it looked more like a small vending machine and cost as much ($9,000). 5 different people can make 5 different flavors of single cups at one time. the church must have a huge coffee bill! but they love it.

brad about: keurig coffee
you can get a little filter cup thing that goes into the keurig so you can use any coffee, not just the expensive little k-cups. we got that for my mom for xmas. i can ask my sister where she got it.

brad about: Viola
Bub, did you catch highlights of fiorentina/liverpool? i know the viola were already through and liverpool is clearly reeling but to beat liverpool at anfield is huge!

brad about: World Cup
Mexico got an easy draw... the host South Africans (worst host team ever, and by FIFA's stupid pairing a number 1 seed). they play france that only got to the finals on fluke no-call penalty.

its a good draw for the US. beating England is a long shot but we match up well with their style of play. we would be hopeless against the super fast Brazilians or Argentines....

brad about: Turkeys
Andy, I have a good story. Alicia's Uncle has a male ridgeback like Tela only 125lbs and full of dumb. The dog is an idiot. Will eat whole meatloafs in a single bite. Ate an entire bucket full of snausages in one sitting and shat the runs for days!

Anyway, he was locked up in a crate in alicias parents basement. thanksgiving was at our house. Well Max got out. Then somehow got out of the house (the front door if not locked can blow open). So Max wandered the neighborhood, until the neighbors opening the door for their family, also got an extra guest. Who knows what he got into. I can only imagine he went right for their turkey. We found Max back in the house with a voice mail on the answering machine. I never found out what he got into or how they knew which house, or even how they got him home. His is big, dumb and full of energy. I can only imagine the hilarity.

brad about: Most awesome video ever!!
Congrats Mountains! That is great news.

brad about: stuff
I am certainly interested, but noncommittal. tell me more.

Breckenridge passed a similar pot law...i think the vote was like 73%/27% for....crazy ski towns.

brad about: footballs
football is dead to me. what a waste of a year.

the bengals have a really good team. for once their defense is not a laughing stock, and the offense is clicking. i think they beat the steelers for the sweep. i cant believe how many talking heads give the nod to pittsburgh. the line is at 7 for the steelers. i would have thought it would be closer. Cinci seems like a good bet!

brad about: Dyson is a genius
has anyone seen the dyson vacuum guys new fan. crazy awesome. this guy needs to get started on the teleporter because might be able to do it!  fan

Brad about: music
does the "shared" file have any limits put on it? I could see them doing that. have you tried to pass on one of these files to another computer outside your original network?

Brad about: anyone gets to write
But that's kind of my point. It is unrealistic to think that these kids will not a mistake. So when the gameplan is so tight, there is no room to make up for even a small mistake. I am not sure I buy tresselball as a total theory. he has prevailed in a couple of big games using this approach, but luck had a lot to do with it. Not coaching. The following link gets bogged down in tactics but the general flavor of the first part is mostly   correct.

Brad about: anyone gets to write
I'm half with you bub... that is a bull shit excuse. OSU gets good players year in and year out. California, Texas and Florida have lots of good players because guess what, they are very big states. They have alot of people. Oh and they happen to be in a warmer climate. This is just basic odds.

I think that most of these kids go to the schools that are closer to home. Its a big difference being close to your family. The kids that go far away, usually have their families relocate with them.

I am convinced now more than ever that we lose the big games because of the ultra conservative coaching and game plan. Not the players we have.

Brad about: Oregon Fan..
How awesome is that story about the oregon fan who traveled to boise to watch the Ducks lose badly, invoiced the coach for the trip because he was pissed...and then the coach actually sent him a check! Awesome.

Brad about: Sketchup
the freebie is fine to build from, unless you need some of the Pro tools.... if you need to start moving textures around you will need the pro... or if you need the sandbox tools... (i think) but it doesn't matter what you start the file with that can be done later on a machine with a pro license.

Brad about:
Thanks Yinz for having a not so special, special teams... we needed that win bad. I thought the pregame story line of "who is gonna be missed more..." was overblown. but apparently you guys missed troy alot more than we missed brian. I thought we exploited the hole left by troy all day...

Cinci looked good, and if it wasn't for a fluke should be 2-0. Balt is on fire to start the season. That might be a tougher division than people give it credit for. At least you play the browns twice. They look god awful! Sorry Cleveland, but its gonna be a long year.

Brad about: Annual Football Lament
two thoughts on my hatred of espn sports coverage. 1). contrary to what the boneheads in the press box said, "Give Belichick a lot of credit for kicking that away.....", Bullshit. He didn't kick away because he thought his team would cause a fumble.... he kicked away because he expected his defense to stop the bills and gain field position.

2) Tedy Bruschi had no business reporting on or commenting on that game. He retired what, yesterday. ESPN is so bias it makes me sick.

Brad about: Annual Football Lament
Tis the season of my annual football lament and prayer. I mis stepped last week and forgot. What happened. OSU survived a nail biter with Navy. Navy? (I got to go the game with my Dad, a navy man, and sit in the Navy coaches section. 4th row. 35 yard line. best seats I have had since they re-did the stadium. Probably the most fun I have had at OSU in 15 years) So best I forget again upon the eve of a huge football weekend.

Dear Football Gods.
Please, oh please do not allow OSU an embrassing loss at home tomorrow. I just can't stomach the depression of another top 5 team loss would provide. Not at home....
If OSU survives USC, please dont let us find our way into a high ranked bowl game and lose again. Put us out of our misery before hand.
Please find the Bears secondary for me. I think we left in Miami after the superbowl.
Please let Tommie Harris return to is pro bowl form. I hope Culter is the answer.
Please help him find someone to throw too besides Olsen and Forte (both whom are going to have a huge year).
Help me continue to believe that Green Bay is over rated.
Please break Farves knees for me. A Theisman compound fracture would be fine too. I will admit it, the devil in me wants him to have to roll up to his HOF induction in a wheel chair.
Thank you again for another season of football. the anticipation and excitement is unmatched the rest of the year. I am giddy. Good luck to everyone this year. I am super excited to get the AFC North against the bears. It should be fun....But above all

Go Bucks!
Go Bears!

Brad about: simmons
highly entertaining read in Bill Simmons new article. The early feeling old and "hangover" references were especially on the money.. Wes you can claim the movie poster remake copyrights. how is it that i can totally picture our weekends in the same way he writes about his?   vegas baby

Brad about: footballs
Dont worry, the whole season will be about farve again. he is the biggest media whore ever. I put him in a whole another class from TO and Ocho Cinco....Last year I could tune it out because it really didn't affect me. now I have to face it head on... Here's to hoping Briggs can end his career permanently with a compound fracture.

Brad about: Disturbing
This is a disturbing story but thought I would share...

I went to Kings Island on Sat with the guys for a friends bachelor party daytime activity...We were waiting to ride their new coaster from last year, where you hang like superman. its weird because the main queue is like 100 yards from the loading station, so they only have like 2 loads of people on the platform at a time. Anyway, we are walking up just as the car is returning.. and most of the riders exit, then the staff starting running around so we look down the line and a 45-50 yr old man is sitting in the chair dead on arrival at the station. It was truly freaky.

I was only with (1) friend at the time because our group was split up so the rest of the guys were still queued 100 yds away. We ran up to jump the gate and help get the guy out of the seat... but the Kings Island staff would not let us. They just sat there and waited for the medical staff. Now, I understand that they were noticeably shaken up, but no one had control. None of the staff was trained in CPR at the station. And they wouldn't let my friend who is help....Now I really don't know if it would have helped, it looked like he had a massive heart attack or stroke, but the staff response was terrible. Needless to say it ruined the rest of the day. Why is Kings Island or Cedar Point not required to have a trained staff member on the platform. They are responsible for like 100,000 people a day? Seems like a no brainer for a 4 hr class. To make it worse, the official KI press release said that the rider was "having trouble breathing"..No, he was NOT breathing. Big difference, and they wouldn't let us help.

Brad about: Stupid Videos
Wes, is this how mante  gets around town?

Brad about: jealously
really, a 350Z is the best car you could come with. You need to watch some Top Gear!...but otherwise has does have it pretty easy.

Abby... We posted a couple of new albums of Leah on shutterfly. Enjoy. Otherwise things are going good. We missed seeing everyone for a second weekend in a row.  Leah Pics

Brad about: Leah's Home
Alicia and I wanted to let everyone know that Leah was released from the hospital yesterday. She is doing good, and we are trilled to be back home. The doctors visits and tests in the weeks and months to come will continue to be trying, but things are good for now.

Alicia and I want to thank everyone for your thoughts and concerns. I can't tell you all how helpful it is to know that we have such great friends and family. Thanks again. We can't wait to see everyone soon.

We also want to extend a big congratulations to the Rodebaughs. Can't wait to hear all about the reception and honeymoon!

Brad about: sports
sorry to bring the converstation back around late, but i just got a minute to post on the feat 'o tiger. he was simply amazing yesterday. Drove every fairway yesterday and thrusday. something like 95% for the 4 days, amazing. Those shots on 17 and 18. ridiculous. 17 is one of the favorite places to sit at muirfield. the players cant really see the green (sits up on a plateau.) fans get to look down on the second shot fro a big bowl. (plus there is a drink stand and RR close by). To even get with 5 yds where that hole was is amazing. the greens were so hard this week they played like plywood. He did not even have divot from that shot!

The chip out at 11. Then 18 is the hardest hole on the course. enough said.

Brad about: Continuing education
you just need the certificates showing participation. like for a lunch and learn, instead of writing in your aia number ask them to mail you a certificate. you can count webinars, articles anything that shows compliance with the aia standards. even stuff like passing LEED counts as points..in ohio you are exempt from needing them for the first 2 yr renewal cycle. I dont have to worry about them until Jan 2010 Is Penn different?

Brad about: murphy
Good Luck Berg and Robyn. Piece of advice..Don't look to seriously and fall in love with a new place until your almost sold. we got our hopes up and were deflated numerous times while looking for our house..it is just added stress

PS. many of the early "showings" are just other realtors checking your place out.. Again be patient. Are you still wanting to move our towards solan?

Brad about: holiday weekend recap......
Wes, if you find yard work relaxing, you certainly don't have a big enough yard. Cutting the grass with a pair of scissors won't fly at our place. You can come help us. Its killing me.

Brad about: other football
good stuff. Adebayor's bike was the best tough. CL final tomorrow!

Brad about: horses
I am not sure why I said Belmont.. this weekend is the Preakness.

Brad about: horses
Is anyone at all excited to see the Belmont this weekend? Does everyone know about the storyline? the Philly, Rachel Alexandra...

Brad about: hockey
agreed Bub.. but I am looking at that last match against AC Milan as the big one....I think it will come down to that.

Brad about: hockey
what is this hockey you speak of.... the playoffs are getting no play here locally. The bluejackets really took the air out columbus. And that seems like months ago...We hear a lot about detroit tough generally.

For me this is a real dead time of year for sports. I hate the nba, but will be happy for you cavs fans. baseball is not for me. the european leagues are about the only thing I follow at this point. I am excited for the UFEA final in 2 weeks... I am hoping Fiorentina can eek out a 3rd place in itlay....and Liverpool can knock off Man U in england...

Brad about: hmmm
those are really good bub.. I have never been a formal art guy, but photography usually really captures my interest. You've got a good eye for...like the rhythm of columns picture.

Brad about: hmmm
Did you figure it out Bub? According to the web...

"So, you don't have any umbrellas or other professional lighting? Not even a strobe flashy thing? If you use desklamps, your window, candles, whatever else I have not mentioned, then you my friend, use ghetto lighting."

I guess it means cheap lighting....So are you going to post the pics you have been taking? Is that where to got the BDC Cover image? If so, that's a great picture.

Brad about: We Shall Remain
I was not sure if anyone had heard of, or caught one of these yet, but PBS is doing a multi-part documentary on Native Americans from the time of the Mayflower to the present. I am a little behind but the first two were really good. Wes specifically, this should be on your list to watch...  http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/amex/weshallremain/

Brad about: Columbus Kids
When it was built, it was on the far edge of the arena district downtown. Since then the area has grown toward it. It actually has been a catalyst for development. The new baseball park is next door. Its not a terrible building. The sound/privacy walls could be better. There is this weird sister bar connected/not connected next door. It is not in a wasteland, but it really only has one building face and its on an edge.... So, it works. certainly could be better, but it works.

As far as a prototype for a small indoor/outdoor venue it is great. Smaller crowds. more intimate. close to parking, bars, resturants....it is in an entertainment district. there is not housing directly adjcent (but near by), but noise is still an issue. that is the biggest hurdle in an dense urban area....noise.  Birds eye view....

Brad about: Columbus Kids
I call it Promowest because that's what it was originally named, everyone else calls it the LC... like we live in southern California or something. Its a great venue, with a terrible name.

Brad about: hiking
It was the Hadley Mt Trail.. 1.8 miles one way, 1524 vertical feet ascent. In hiking terms that would be considered moderate. Tela gave it a supa easy.....plus I think she hiked like 6 miles. You should be able to find a review out there with a difficultly rating.

Brad about: footballs
Wes you didn't mention the bears... which is probably fine, because after trading away another pick (our 2nd rounder) I am not sure the bears actually participated in this years draft either. All the pundits say the bears got a lot of talent late in the draft, but I will be real interested to see how Massaquoi does in Cleveland. We had a chance to take him and passed for a WR later.

Brad about: ha!
the victim, "continues to suffer, and her whole vacation was ruined".. Really? I am not saying I want some dude to pee on me, but come on.

Brad about: masters
chad campbell is at 9 under through 15... that ties him for the course record... 3 to play. amazing.

Brad about: UEFA
Did anyone catch the ridiculous goal by Adebayor in the arsenal v villareal match yesterday...  Fantastic Goal

Brad about: To spur conversation
yeah, I looked it up this morning because I was so confused.

Don't worry bub, we didn't give any details. It's a great episode.

Brad about: To spur converstation
Does anyone watch House? Does anyone want to remark on last nights episode? Alicia and i were left wondering why that just happened..... it was abrupt to say the least.

Brad about: baseball
Its funny how you say that Andy, I have never thought about that way. But the masters has always been my "start of summer" benchmark...

Brad about:
I know companies are starting to switch (or just eat into microsoft's monopoly),but I don't understand how a group of users share and store email so that it is public to a controlled group.

Brad about: footballs
I just went and looked our past even farther... I forgot to mention Curtis Enis..... since 1994 the only sucessful first rounders we have drafted are tommie harris, urlacher and walt harris. We are just terrible at it. It's embarrassing.

Brad about: footballs
Yes Aaron, I that's only going back 10 years....Greg Olson might be the only exception to our offensive 1st round draft woes. Our 1st rounder last year Williams (OT) didn't even play a down due to injury. So who knows how that will turn out

Brad about: footballs
I will add this. I definitely think the bears gave way orton to easy. he was a 4th rounder that emerged has a decent starter. I give him a lot a credit. I think he could be a great QB with some receiver help. But I think he does better in the shotgun. That is not chicago. its hard to succeed in the shotgun on 10 deg december days. I would agree that Culter is not a huge upgrade, but he might be a better fit. I think he can probally do more with less help. (at least I have to tell myself that)

Brad about: footballs
My first reaction was that I think we gave up too much, but generally I can live with it. here's why

The bears do a terrible job at first round selections. We just cant seem to draft superstars in the first round. Benson, Grossman, Cade Mckown, David Terrell, Rashaan Salaam just to name a few.. They as an organization tend to move down or out of the first round alot. So losing the first rounders doesn't bother me all that much. giving away the third rounder this year seemed like too much. But you also have to remember that we have been searching for a quarterback since Sid Luckman. Even McMahon wasn't that great, he had the worlds greatest RB, an amazing line and really good receivers. If Culter can grow up a little and lead us for even 5 solid years it turns out to be worth it...I would agree that he handled the trade possibility like a cry baby. Now they need to get out there and draft some wide receiver help, without it no one can succeed in Chicago.

Brad about:
I saw that on the news this morning. Classic. Did the article mention he is requesting a trial by jury...way to clog the system a-hole.

Brad about:
Well said Cathryn.

Brad about:
Second Comment, out of order... Co2. Personally here is my take. I can believe that the Co2 levels have cycled here on earth. But the current spike is so dramatically out of the norm I find it impossible to believe that it just so happens to correspond to a 100 year period with unprecedented human population and the industrial revolution. Sure cavemen built fires and breathed... but the proportions aren't comparable. I believe that if we were all just to disappear, the earth would return to those moderate Co2 cycles.

now whether all that causes changing weather patterns.. i tend to believe the scientists that tell me it does, but I can listen to the other arguments this is far less certain in my view. Is it going to cause an end of the world probably not. I am far more worried about a mad max world of anarchy. that seems far more likely in the next hundred years....

Brad about:
ok, now three comments. Seriously Berg, look up the credits for LEED. Only 13 credits promote "green" materials. LEED promotes developing on practical sites. cleaning up brownfields, managing our stormwater and overall water usage, promoting energy efficiency both in terms of where it comes from and how efficient we use it, and yes it promotes "green" materials..... Only a little bit more than PR.. Really?

Brad about: Potentially a rant...
Two Comments.. First. Berg. You are assuming the electricity you are using to power your geothermal system is being created by coal. Which here in ohio it probably is. But if your electricity is coming from alt sources then there is no comparison because you are not creating co2 to create the energy..

Brad about: Trade
Hey Browns fans... what am I missing about the bears/browns trade of starting tackles. You guys signed St. Clair from us who is a journey man at best who has been filling a hole on our line. We picked up Kevin Shaffer after you guys let him go..From what I have read Shaffer was a good starter. Was he only let go because of the 1 million bonus he was set to receive? Am I missing something...if not certainly seems like we got the better end. thanks.

Brad about: Lost
Yeah I read it.. Alicia just rolls her eyes at me when I show her that stuff. "why can't you just watch the show"..blah blah blah.

My theory that i tried to explain to alicia a couple of weeks ago was sumed up great in yesterday's teaser article.."I think the Oceanic 6 and Left Behinders have been sent back to stop Ben from becoming bad, thus averting all of the things that happened in the future."

So when the crazy shit happened last night I felt vindicated, but knowing the show, its not that easy....

Brad about: Lost
Wes, Leanne... did you catch lost last night....We haven't had any banter on this season. Last nights episode confirmed my lost theory for now anyway.

I tried Podium, but hated it. Check out Kerkythea. Totally Free. Works as good as Vray without the $700 price tag. I can give you some tips. Apply all of your texture maps in SU, then modify the materials in KT. KT does amazing landscape tricks. Does animations too. The slave machine rendering setup is not as perfect, but its also free.  Kerkythea

Brad about: really cheap housing
Thanks Dickey. I am glad that when you think of third world refugee families you think of us.

Brad about: on a serious note
Alicia and I have exciting news to share with everyone. We are expecting a baby to join our family in July!

Mom and Baby are doing fine. Alicia is in her 16th week. Her due date is July 8th, the day before her birthday. We are both very excited. Tela is concerned about the loss of attention, but I am sure she will warm to the idea of baby messes and spills. She loves a good diaper and spit up!

Brad about: Seriously?
What does this dickhead have to be upset about. I am sure that there are alot of other players willing to trade places.  you are in the superbowl ass hole.

Brad about: pittsburgh...
I noticed the music myself, and thought it was weird. but what made it really strange, was that because the game was already running long (that 1st quarter took forever), they didn't cut to commercial. they just sat there and showed Ray 'I am a criminal and should be in Jail' Lewis the whole time.

Brad about: COLD
I don't get to say this too often down here in the deep south according to Wes, but it was colder here last night and today than most of your places.... the low at my house last night was -14. Tela gave us a 'are you fucking kinding me' look before bed last night. She wouldn't go outside to pee....Held it all night.

Hope every stays warm...Be careful.  Drunk Man freezes to Death.

oft-injured? He had (1) injury most of the year that hurt him. He played every game last year. He has as much potential to be good as anyone else. If you need a RB who is a better prospect? Moreno?

Brad about: Electric Cars
Did anyone catch the Today show speaking with GM this morning. Why will no one ask GM why it doesn't just dust off the specs for the old EV1 cars they destroyed. It is taking them another full year to release the volt...(almost 2 1/2 years total since they first started publicly talking about it). Why invest so much additional research money into a product they already designed?

I hate that they are marketing the product so far in advance of its release....they are so quick to look to the future but they completely ignore the past.

Brad about: the one i can remember
You're welcome Wes. I thought the exercise would do you good.

Biggie, you don't remember Derek spooning the plant outside the bar, with the locals looking at him like he was the plague, while we pointed and laughed.....

Brad about: the one i can remember
Ah, Yes. Tomorrow we can celebrate the 10th anniversary of Derek passing out in the piazza spooning a flower pot. Good Times.

Happy Birthday Wes.

Brad about:
leed is doing its job in that it sets a standard of excellence. The building codes are failing in this regard. They set the lowest common denominator. I think it is great that publicly funded buildings are beginning to require excellence. It is sad that the general building codes don't already. LEED buildings make for more efficient uses of energy, healthier environments and push the status quo. As a tax payer, thats what I want my dollars helping with.

Brad about: speaking of skiing...

Brad about:

Brad about: footballs
Aaron are saying that your offseason moves set you up for next year? Really? You guys put your eggs in this years basket. Depth is what makes NFL teams great. You generally get your depth from the later draft picks. At some point the large void your front office created will hurt you.

It took me a minute to find this article, but I remembered reading it before the season started. As a side after re-reading, its funny that they quoted lane kiffen on the GM/personnel relationships before the season...   NFL Depth

Brad about: SNOW
Down here in the south.... I was in Cinci today. 65 degs. It will 25 by midnight. Crazy weather. Hope those that get the snow weather through.. 18" would cripple us. The 15" we got last year kept me out of work for 2 days.

Brad about: footballs
R.I.P. 2008 NFL Season. Lessons learned for me.
1. Sorry Buffalo, Jauron is a loser. I hope they think twice about the extension.
2. Never count on Arizona for anything. How the hell did they win their division?
3. The vikes win all but ends the bears season.
4. At least your team is not the lions.

Brad about: digital music
Wes has the simplest answer assuming the home theater receiver is in good order. I thought you said the cd player was broken. If so, then you need 2 pieces (ipod or computer to store music, and a receiver to play it)

Brad about: digital music
Sounds to me like they need a big HDTV with new Dolby 7.1 Stereo, Blueray player, and Ipod.... Oh wait thats my x-mas wish list every year....

Brad about: digital music
I would get a home theater receiver capable of linking with an Ipod or directly to your computer through ethernet... If the problem is the home theater receiver/cd player, it should be replaced... the ipod is an "add on" not a replacement, but most receivers now have a direct link so you can control the ipod through the stereo remote....Do they have the stereo hooked up to the TV?

Brad about: St John Pictures

Thanks for the belated birthday wishes. I big happy birthday to my fellow november birthdays, sorry I missed saying hi.

Alicia and I had a great time in the islands. I spent my birthday on a 85 deg sunny day at the beach. Bub, tell your dome thanks for the concern. I didn't burn anything, although I got an ear infection that made the plane ride home terrible. I will try to post some of the underwater coral reef pictures when we get the camera developed (assuming they turn out ok).

Brad about: modern technology
you will wonder how you are lived without it..

Brad about: Buffalo
I have a grievance to file. Sports Rankings are dumb... I am not sure Chicago is going to even pull out a playoff spot,,,, But we have a better record than Philly, and we beat them head to head, yet we are ranked behind them? By 2 spots? WTF?

Brad about: footballs
Benson's problem is not just getting arrested, (he was cleared of the previous charges), it is that he couldn't find a hole to run through if the defense only had 5 players. What a Pussy.

I am just bitter because we wasted a pick on him.

Brad about: footballs
We get HD TBS.... maybe its just an HD channel with regular content?

Brad about: Responsibility
I find it assuming that the giants plaxico is crying about his suspension. He claims he missed a day of practice "because of a family emergency". When asked why he didn't call, he hid behind his agent and stated that now's not the time to explain.

I do not know about you, but even in a "family emergency" I would call the office and say I am noting coming, heres why... How is he not accountable. If it is truly an emergency, don't you think the Giants would be understanding. What an unresponsible baby.

Brad about:
Like Easterbrook or not, I think his point about accuracy is relative. At what point is the technology of timers too much. "A hundredth of a second is too fleeting to have any common-sense relevance". We all know that the technology will continue to advance. We will soon judge winners by the 10,000th of second?   "Bendy Oars" because of camera speed.

Brad about: Phelps
wait.. wait... I don't hate Phelps at all. Alica and I watched every race he had on the edge of our seats. I am hating on NBC. I think their coverage of the Olympics was terrible (as usual). I think their coverage of the NFL last year and so far this is terrible. What Phelps did was incredible.

My beef is not with one person specifically. I think NBC (and others)hyper-exaggerate storylines for the sole purpose of creating drama. The Phelps storyline did not need anymore drama. I believe the coverage took away from the history.

The timer issue has been debated for some time. I am not for taking away a phelps medal. I agree with the easterbrook sentiment here.

"In other Olympic news, the timer said Michael Phelps swam the 100-meter butterfly in 50.58 seconds, Milorad Cavic swam it in 50.59 -- can anyone seriously believe either finished one-hundredth of a second different from the other? The timer said Britta Steffen swam the 50-meter freestyle one-hundredth of a second faster than Supermom Dara Torres. Tenths of seconds are absurd enough, as Tuesday Morning Quarterback noted a few months ago. A hundredth of a second is too fleeting to have any common-sense relevance, let alone decide an athletic event; and this is setting aside whether a mechanical device splashed with water (the touch pads) can be accurate to the hundredth of the second. Yet numerous clocks in Beijing show hundredths of seconds, as if these splinters of time can be measured meaningfully. Reader Fred Ruonala notes that as the Phelps result was announced, one of the NBC announcers said viewers could "clearly see Phelps touched first." Now Olympics announcers can perceive hundredths of seconds."

Brad about: Wes = Happy
I did catch that... Other than the fact it was during a play it didn't bother me. It raises a good debate over the usefullness or accuracy of timing to the 100th of a second. Greg Easterbrook has written many times about that.

My original complaint has always been the overblown coverage one person received. ESPN has become obsessed with tickers, and stats. NBC's problem is they constantly try to make things bigger than they are. Sport is Sport. Golf has long been the "male soap opera". NBC is just applying that drama to all of its coverage for everything. Its making me sick.

Brad about: Wes = Happy
As I labored through the pregame for the bears, I decided that all of NBC Sports sucks. I was shocked that Costas or Collingworth actually made it through the hour without an importu Phelps interview, or a make out session with his mom.

What the fuck is up with the commentators watching a big tv for highlights at like 3 feet, but us viewers have to watch through a glass wall, the back of the commentators and a mirror thing on the side to see the other 3 wackos off screen.

I did like the potential of a Big Show reunion. Too bad NBC would not unleash the china like control of what they could say. How many 21 years olds do you think were like who the hell are these old guys?

Brad about:
As I leave here for the day, I wish everyones football dreams well this year. Most of all, mine. Please Bears don't suck to bad. I seriously could not have lower expectations. Sad..

I get to see the Bucks play the mighty Boabcats of OU tomorrow at the shoe. Damn you alumni association for giving us such shitty seats to another shitty game. At least the weather looks to be nice. Please OSU, don't make it to the tile game if you are just gonna fuck it up again. I can't take that kind of humiliation... Go Bucks. Go Bears.

Brad about: Gonna Take My Job, Bitch...

Brad about: awesome is..
the unbelievable ease Bolt, "cruised" to the 100 meter gold... Personally I am sick of Phelps. But watching that lanky Jamican was crazy. Can not wait for the 200.

On a side note, I hope NBC is going to be ok. They have been on their knees for almost 2 weeks serving Phelps. Hope they had some good pads.

Brad about: vacation
Alicia and I are stuck at work.. Cheers.

Brad about: OGO
I have to send this link to Fred. The "OGO" is original called a "Zorb". It was developed in New Zealand like 10 years ago. Fred contacted the company that made them and asked to buy one. They said they were not for sale, and one had to come to New Zealand to ride in one... The amazing race even featured it a couple years ago in new zealand... That is so awesome you got to ride in one. I am super jealous.

Brad about: Competition Weekend
Hey, I finally got around to uploading pictures of the weekend. Enjoy.  Competition Weekend Pictures

Brad about: AUG 8, 2008
I love the olympics.. However I hate the primetime coverage of it. So I will watch bravo, usa or any of the other random channels that will show obscure events that never get seen otherwise (sailing, rowing). Who doesn't want to watch badminton or table tennis in china...

that being said, I still more excited about football.. nervous as hell, but excited. I refuse to give a prediction. The bears could completely suck worse than last year (if that's really possible), or they could find some unknown superstars who finally get their chance to play and tear it up....(hopeful at best) I think a better gamble is the over/under on Hester overall TD's.. I set it at 15.

Brad about: Co-Exist
How the fuck do you teach a mt. lion a lesson? Without sounding like PETA or the siera club, I am a firm believer in co-existing with nature...You swim with sharks, and you get bit, don't cry. You swim in an alligator infested canal, and get bit, don't cry.

If you live in an animals natural habitat you better co-exist. Killing it because it behaved in its natural manner is not co-existing. That is extermination. Now if the lion went after the humans in the home, and they fought back and killed it, fine. But to trick it, hunt it down and kill it is wasteful.

Sorry, I had to sit down with the boss...I was thinking we would pick teams for the entire weekend.

Biggie and I were thinking to start Quarters and Pool tonight. Cornhole and Kickball tomorrow afternoon. And finish up with Euchre, Darts and Pong Sat night. Darts and Pool cannot take place at the same time. Quarters and Euchre probally can't either.

Brad about: Competition
I have answers...
Yes, Aaron there is pong. Biggie made a table.
If everyone is here by 9 or so, then we can get started by 9:30. I think we will have to pick teams. There are only 9 out of staters. We could have as many as 22 Ohioians...

Brad about: Competition Weekend
Unconfirmed vicious lies Sweeney. Alicia and I are super excited to see everyone. (Cathryn and Biggie are too I'm sure) I guess because Team Buffalo can not step up anymore, it is hard to shit talk when you don't know who will be on your team. We can throw negative slurs at Buffalo...

Brad about: Student- 5, Master- 2
It scares me that you refer to Wes as "Master"

But, at least you didn't get carded at the Hofbrauhaus IN GERMANY....wtf.

Brad about: sports
My overall distain for Farve is unmatched. He has caused me years of suffering. No way in hell I want him on my team. Think Marino to the Bills...

He is being a selfish dick. But this is case where I would love to see him come back. Despite what the media says, is numbers are way down. last year was no exception. We beat GB both times last year..despite our suck-a-tude...the longer he pulls this shit the better for every other team, because GB will be stuck in history. It will take years for the franchise to stabilize without Farve. His delays only prolong that gap in my opinion.

Brad about: Happy 30th

Brad about: Competition Weekend
Can we start to get a idea of shirt size requests. I will get an email together so we can forward it on to those that don't converse on BDC.

Brad about: Competition Weekend
Why don't we just do (1) design in (1) color. It is a good default simple approach. If we get teams worked out before, each can "accessorize" as needed. If not, we pick names when everyone is here.

Brad about: Competition Weekend
Events.

Beer Pong
Cornhole
Kickball
Volleyball (quarters)
"Cigar Room Triathlon" (Pool/Darts/Euchre)

Brad about: Competition Weekend
Biggie and I would like to finalize some details so we may prepare our shirt designs....

We thought the majority of people were leaning towards a Team Ohio vs Team World(?) Showdown. If so, we still would like to create (1) shirt for the event. In the past we have had team designs. Is (1) shirt in two colors cool with everyone?

Brad about: rant

Brad about: foooood
man word of free food spreads fast.... I think the managers agreed to this just this morning. no way they have enough food.

Brad about: Competition
I support the idea of one tee-shirt design in 2 colors. If we generally know who is coming, then we can preset teams like Derek said, and pre-order the correct shirts.

Lets consider the 2 team format a go.

I was thinking last night, that we could add playground games into the mix. There are tether ball poles, and foursquare courts at the school behind our house. There is the possibility of dodgeball too.

Brad about: Competition Weekend
So Biggie and I have discussed some of the details. Hope everyone can still make it. Dates again are Aug 1st, 2nd and 3rd. We wanted some group input. Would we like to compete for the Belt, or do we want a "pick teams when here" setup. Buffalo, do you have a large enough faction to field a team? We could combine the out of staters. I think we should make it a two team event for simplicity.

Events. What would we like? Biggie and I would suggest flag football. But we could do softball, or kickball. Other obvious traditional choices; cornhole or horsehoes, darts, billards, euchre, pong. We are free to introduce newbies. I was thinking one event could be an ironman type event where select teams battle for one event point by competing in multiple games.

Also to keep something else in mind, the Dublin Irish Festival is going on that weekend. We could take Sat Night and jump over for music, dirnks and a ye olde good time. Too bad we couldn't jump on to the caber toss field for an event!!!

Thoughts.   Dublin Irish Festival

Brad about: Tiger
I know for some watching golf is like watching paint dry... but all I can say is holy shit. Tiger's back nine on sat and the final putt yesterday, was some of the best stuff I can remember. I am not a huge Tiger fan, I like the underdog usually, but he left me speechless sat night.

Brad about: a few sports things -
now if we could just find an excuse to cut grossman and admit to everyone that we have absolutely no offense.. Talk about shitty. No running back, no quarterback, no receivers. What hope is there?

We are putting all our faith in our rookie 2nd round pick, Forte. Word is that he has looked awesome, but really what is that worth. Not much hope in chi town today for footballs. Good thing the Cubs are playing well.

Brad about: Euros
As bad as it was for Italy, because the france v romanina game ended in a scoreless tie, italy still have a shot of making out of the group. it will be interesting to see if the dutch are that good, or the italians that bad.

Brad about: Euros
Did anyone catch the thumping Italy took yesterday, or should I say the masterpiece by the Dutch. The Dutch looked amazing, and Sneijder's goal was ridiculous.

Brad about: soccer
Actually Berg, I am far more excited about the Euros than I ever would be for the entire, hockey, baseball and basketball seasons. Just ask my DVR... I know you say this just to rile us up, but after the fifth time you just start looking like a dick. just ignore the posts, like I do when you guys ramble on about baseball. Who has the best starting rotation...my bull pen is better than yours...blah blah blah...all crap.

Brad about: Brainiacs
I think you can use to moderate air temps with an exchanger in an air handling unit..  here is the wiki definition

Brad about: Brainiacs
It uses the earths constant 55 degree temp to moderate heating and cooling extremes. Josh is not here to give you the technical mumbo jumbo....but thats the idea. There are a couple of different kinds. Either a field of shallow tubing in the landscape horizontally, or a smaller more compact vertical application.

Brad about: musak
Doug. I sent that link to my buddy who has his own streaming site/computer geek. he is his response.

I have no idea how they get away with that, I don't think they have a license to distribute / stream the music. Also, I was able to hack the site and I can download any song I want- no need to stream, took less time than expected, actually they make it very easy to pillage and plunder.

this is on their upload page: "Please make sure this song is not copy righted. Your song will be deleted if found to be copy righted. Only Indian music."

they had a naming competition for the Blue Jackets, and Columbus Mad Cows actually won, but the team wouldn't follow through.

Brad about: Interesting Weekend
Hope everyone took a break from their projects... Couple of us went up to Detroit to join the 3/4 of a million people to see the Red Bull Air Race (Not flugtag)... Amazing stuff. Fred has some amazing pictures but it will take a while to get through.   Here are some videos from Red Bull if you have no idea what I am talking about.

Brad about: zzzzz
Sounds like everyone had as much fun as we did. My golf game paid the price yesterday.

We rented a hydraulic auger, but the house is built up on compacted fill, so most of the holes near the house had to be hand dug. I had to rent a rock hammer to get through some of it..Otherwise the auger was awesome. Tela was not much help. She was way too in to sun bathing..   Auger & Tela

Brad about: a few things
I have just always thought that taking away a couple of players would add alot of drama. Whats the strategy? Who does the manager pull from the game? How do the match-ups change? Players will get more tired, and mistakes are easier to capitalize on. Alot more games would end on the field, not in a shoot out.

Brad about: soccer
I DVR soccer, because the game was played in Europe at 11:00 pm Moscow Time. thats 2:00 pm for you here Berg....I have to at least attempt to work from time to time. God Bless DVR, otherwise I would have had to miss the game.

And Yes Berg, I am much cooler than you.

Brad about: a few things
I have been swampped, and/or out of the office, and I finally finished the champions league game late last night. Thoughts. Shoot outs suck. As a player they are terribly mind melting. I couldn't image the pressure put on them on such a world stage. With that said, I was thrilled Ronaldo missed his. His studder step is un-classy and gay. Chelesa owned Man U in the 2nd half. I thought they deserved to win it more based on the flow of the game. It was shocking how absent half the players were. It seemed like 4 guys on each team controlled the entire game.

I have always thought, overtime should be played 9 on 9 or something. Takeaway a couple of players and the amount of space to move and make plays goes up exponentially. Doesn't hockey do something like that?

Brad about: Spygate
I am sure all teams do something to study the signals.. but the problem here is how over the top the patriots have been with it. Hiring personnel to tape and interpret the signals is too much. Did you ever read about the staff member who is a "close personal friend" to Belchiek with no official job title, but is supposedly a savant. he can memorize signals, formations and interpret them so quickly he can make a difference. That is over the top cheating. It is one thing casually review signals, its another to make such a effort to cheat.

no doubt the NFL tries to sweep this under the rug and forget about it. Will the fans let them though? I predict every forgets all about it and goes on their merry way.

Brad about: AAA teams
Actually Biggie, I think there are ALOT more reds fans here.... the reds suck, so they stay quite. if you did a straw poll, I bet the reds still win. Its generational to. The longer the tribe keeps having good years (even between the bad ones) there will be more..

The new stadium construction is moving along. I am excited for it, even though I am not a big baseball guy.

I am shocked no-one is venting about this. Pittsburgh, Cleveland, and Buffalo. All three of your teams are directly involved...

Brad about: Pencil Dick
Here is a great Friday Story. Last week Josh and I found out that one of the older Project architects in the office resigned. His was flat out a Dick. Lazy, Dead Weight with an ego the size of texas. I always thought for sure he was in line to take over the firm from our 75 year old boss. The great part of the story is that he resigned to buy a model train business. WTF..

Better part of the story, today a contractor called in a asked for the guy that left. When told he was no longer with the office, he called him a pencil dick and offered to buy us drinks to celebrate.

Brad about: tribe v. sox
I didn't see it... I just heard he was screening the goalie. If was waving his hands in front of the goalie's face then that is being a dick. I agree that the way the NHL handled the situation is dumb. change the rules as you go, sketchy.

Brad about: tribe v. sox
Why cant a player act as a screen in front of the net? Would it be different if he wasnt facing the goalie. You can set up screens in every other sport. how is what he did "bushleague". Hockey is somewhat about physical contact. Push him out of the way. If you can create an advantage without breaking the rules thats your advantage. besides he was probally hurting his own teams chances just as much. they would have to shoot between 2 people.

Would a team putting a 500 lb sumo wrestler in a goalie uniform be any more bush league? At that size he would not have to be very athletic to stop a puck in the small windows he is not blocking. besides sumo wrestlers are usually very nimble for their size. Seems like a perfect fit to me.

Brad about: work question
Josh and Abby are mostly right....Certificate of substantial completion ideally is issued when all work is done, including the punch lists. However, its real purpose is establishing the date of owner control or occupancy. Warranties, and such trigger from this date. We almost always refer to the open punch list as exceptions on the Certificate of Completion. As Josh stated, the State of Ohio does not utilize such a term as "substantial completion". The job is not done until the final pay application is processed and retainage is paid.

Brad about: Devin Hester Rule
Let me be the first to say that what I just read on Yahoo is perhaps the dumbest thing I've heard the NFL consider....ever. The NFL surveyed coaches and owners to see if punting out of bounds should be penalized. I hate when Hester doesn't get a chance. He is our only bright spot. I still wish they would line him up 20 yards back and let him go. But to penalize teams for punting out of bounds is ridiculous. Its called strategy. Besides, Hester is equally as likely to fumble as he is to take it all the way. He's not perfect.  Stupid Idea

Brad about: Love the NFL, Hate the Players....
So the Bears signed Briggs to an extension yesterday (Sorry Wes), the same player who stated last year that he "would never play another game for chicago" Idiot. Then Berrian, our #1 receiver signed with the Vikings. He told Chicago media earlier that he wanted more "stability at the quarterback position", so he signs with the Vikings?... yeah Travis Jackson is the definition of stability. oh well they overpaid, he just hasn't shown that consistently on the field.

Free Agency usually just pissing me off, because like it or not, FA will not make you better team. Historically it doesn't. Your team just has to pay a lot more money to elitist athletes....

Brad about: efforts in futility
Now that I have a minute I need to vent...So our boss decided to change phone and internet service here at the office. What he didn't listen to was my warning that our webhosting was tied to our extg provider. AT&T told our old provider to cut their services on Mon, and by the end of the day Tues our email had stopped. AT&T never set up the our webhosting. So after (4) days and probably 8 hrs on the phone with AT&T, I literally got nowhere with them. complete idiots. Save your the trouble and avoid AT&T Webhosting. I jumped on Dotster this morning and with 30 minutes email was restored... I have never experienced such a ridiculous organization structure. AT&T has 4 different "webhosting" divisions...and none of them know anything about the others.

Brad about: Lost
I do read the EW posts. He does a great job of summarizing and theorizing. However, they protray the characters as real people.. they make an effort to cast them as humans with the flash backs & forwards.

People don't act the way the characters do in armed crisis. That is not human nature... people don't behave in these ways. Put yourself on the island. If it were me heads would roll. The character interactions would not play out, "Who are you that just parachuted on this island?...Oh, you don't want to tell me, Ok maybe later." F that. heads would roll. Answers, some are needed instead of the never ending plot expansion. That is why the ending will be a let down, because I don't believe they can ever explain all the questions in the time they have.

Brad about: Lost
I have a serious love/hate relationship with lost. Doug, there are so many things that you have to overlook it gets to me (hate it). Then there are those things that you overlook, that are actually important (love it).

I hate the fact apparently none of the writers ever read lord of the flies, or saw "Escape". Mystery, crisis, trauma these things cause people to be irrational, and uncivilized. Throw in stashes of weapons and it would be chaos. I hate how the show completely avoids this.

Maybe all things will be answered, and the ability to completely suspend disbelief will be justified, but lately I am growing tried of it. I need more answers, so I watch more. Its a vicious cycle. I am convinced that the ending will be a complete let down.

Brad about: Competition
Cathryn, Andy - If we....(Do you want us to?)... wait until later in the summer? If you don't think that you would come anyway, then I think we should go with the June 6,7,8 sans the Englishes. Thoughts.

Brad about: Competition
Sorry, been at a presentation in Cinci..... Congrats Berg and Robyn, Happy Birthday Leanne....

Dates.. I have no real preference. I kinda figured sooner rather than later. I meant to bring up the conversation a week ago, and the Skybus email hit me all of a sudden. No matter what time we pick its going to be busy for someone. I am completely fine with waiting, but I don't thing it will change how busy we as a group will be. I imagine Skybus will release the August-Sept dates by the end of April. I am fine with waiting if we can agree on a date, but I started thinking about it so Andy and Cathyrn could join if they wanted.

Brad about: Competition Weekend
I would vote for early June. Either May 30-June 1 or June 6-8. We can make either weekend work.

Our house is dog friendly. But there will be lots of people, its probally everybody else's call. Tela will represent, but she ultra lazy and low key.

I have got an idea of several events. I will put them together later.

Finally. We probally will be able to swing a team columbus, team rest-o-Ohio, and team out-of-town.

Brad about: Competition Weekend
Alicia and I are pretty flexible. I didn't think we would want to do it over memorial day weekend (May 23-26), but it would give people more time to travel. We can't do May 30th or 31st (Memorial Tournament, unless you want to see some golf). Other dates could be June 13-15. We are open to suggestions.

Brad about: Competition Weekend
I wanted to bring up the conversation again. Would we be able to pick a time in late May or early June? Skybus released their June and July fares this morning. If the Englishes can join us they could start looking at cheap flights if we quickly pick a date. I propose June 6th, 7th and 8th.

Finally this morning I noticed that it has a wider release. We even tried to see it in Denver, same shit. Weird Promotion on their part. Can't wait to see it...ironic post dougums.

Brad about: Skybus
Wes, Leanne.

Did you see that Skybus is now serving the Niagara Airport? Flights to and from could be $10 each way plus tax and fees. (more likely $25-$35) It could be easier to fly here than drive at those prices!

Needless to say it was a blast. Yoder and Fred ended the week by skiing from the summit down into the town of Breckenridge in 1 run. 3200 vertical feet!  I posted Pictures if anyone is interested.

Brad about: Childhood Nostalgia
Speaking of next time you are over.. I had Biggie probe interest in a C-Bus Competition Weekend Spring/Summer '08 at the Browns, Bill game.

I would like to officially propose scheduling of an event.

Andy/Cathryn, you should think about when you might be able to come. If we plan now, you should still be able to score super cheap Skybus tickets. I don't think they have started sale for anything after May.

Alicia and I could certainly host. With the park directly behind our house; softball, kickball, flag football, all could work. events could be endless.

Brad about: Childhood Nostalgia
Oh, its a complete waste of money. But, its not my money, so what do I care.

Brad about: Childhood Nostalgia
  And This One.

Brad about: Childhood Nostalgia
The friday after thanksgiving, we decided to break out our old RC cars.. It had been 10 years since they ran,, but they fired right up. We did have to run to the hobby store to buy new batteries, but it was a huge success. The dogs chased the cars threw the park . We set up a race in the street in front of my house. awesome day.

While at the hobby store we saw a new car. $900, 1/5 scale. 23 lb. 34" long. 65 MPH beast. It runs on 2 cycle gas, and has a 45 minute run time on 1 tank. As a joke my friend Fred told his dad about it and thats what he wanted for x-mas. Freds dad is as big a kid as him and bought it.  Check out the video.

So, yesterday I completed the painting of our entire downstairs (except family room) by pulling the tape of the foyer walls. As I am throwing the ball of tape in the garbage, we find a water spot on our newly painted kitchen ceiling. FUCK.

I knew our master bath shower needed some work, but it apparently wants to be done sooner, rather than later. Luckly its not a plumbing problem, but a tile and grout one. So at least it won't get any worse if we don't use the shower.

I am wishing for a whole lot more HEALTH in the whole health and happiness new years thing.

Brad about: The Curse...
I swear 2007 is cursed....... WORST YEAR EVER. OSU Mens Soccer which has about 9 hometown guys on it (5 from Dublin) made it to the National Division 1 Finals and LOST to Wake Forest. Another f'n runner up. what gives. Who did I piss off? I think we need some kind of exorcism. Reverend Dickey, do you have the healing hand?

Brad about: Dec 21st
Derek, I would happy to join you for beer. I will start an email with you and Biggie.

Brad about:
Andy, am I happy about OSU's fortune, of course. I really can't justify it tough. Other than to say that Midseason rankings are just as stupid as the BCS. All they do is fuel talk. Let the teams play out the season. Lets take the top 12 teams and play it out. Only way to stop this year in and year out.

If things pan out of OSU, great, if they don't I am not going to be too upset. things are way to tight year for the system to work. Again, with that said, I think OSU can hang with more people than you are giving them credit for. Agree, disagree I don't care.

Brad about:
Sweeney, The Big East as a whole this year is well behind the Big Four Conferences. The Big Ten is certainly behind the other 3...but Pull Number 2 UConn out and drop them in the Big 10.. they dont win 3 conference games. Please, strong conference..

Brad about: OSU
The system sucks. We've all agreed on this before. Mizz or Oklahoma can hang with anybody in the country. No question there. Either of them deserve a shot over OSU based on the strength of conference and schedule.

But, why is OSU less worthy than WVU with the same record. WVU hasn't played anybody. Are you going to argue that that a home win over UConn is better than a road win agaisn't Penn St or Wisconsin????.....

Finally, the conference championship has hurt both those who have it and those that dont. Everyone should have one in my opinion. Its the first step towards the national playoff that we need.

Brad about: Hester..
Still think teams will kick to him? Machine! Too bad the rest of my team sucks. I wish they would line him up in a really deep wish bone and let him go.

Brad about: BCS
Like it or not OSU is in the title hunt. My personal opinion is that I am scared to be in the championship game again. Last year was that embarrassing.

Regardless, one slip up and OSU is right there. So, in my completely bais College FB opinion. WVU is overrated. Missouri and OSU would be the better game. I think they match up pretty well. So with that said, I am rooting for Oklahoma. I think OSU can slow down WVU's o-fense. and I dont think WVU can stop our physical running.

Brad about: Rivalry Week
I think OSU is being singled out from what you say. A kicker from the 97-99 teams was on a local morning show today. He said that after OSU lost in 99 in Michigan, he met his mom on the field. A michigan fan spit on his mom as he celebrated. My point, shit happens everywhere.

last year when Schembechler died on the Monday before the game, OSU fans had a moment of silence for him both in the Skull Session before the game and at a bunch of the prep rallies off campus. We are not complete aholes...

Brad about: Rivalry Week
woody was kind of crazy. hell he punched an opposing player. That being said, the reason OSU v Michigan is a big thing is because during woodys career the game took on a huge importance because both teams were so good.

We dont get HBO, but I think you are talking about Bo Biafra. He is lead singer for a local punk Band, The Dead Schembechlers. He is crazy. Certified as far as I care, but its all an act. The band only plays once a year during Michigan week. i think Columbus Police still have a active warrant for the bands arrest following the 1996 roits. They claim the Dead Schembechlers started the riots during their concert? If Bo Biafra was on the HBO thing, then the show lost all credibility. He is an act. he personifies this character to promote the band.  Dead Schembechlers

Brad about: Rivalry Week
Q: Why should the University of Michigan change its name to the "Opossums"?

A: Because they play dead at home and get killed on the road.

Brad about: Rivalry Week
One foggy night, a Buckeye fan was heading north from Columbus and a Michigan fan was driving south from Ann Arbor. While crossing a narrow bridge, they hit each other head-on, mangling both cars.

The Michigan fan manages to climb out of his car and survey the damage. He looks at his twisted car and says, "Man, I'm lucky to be alive!"

Likewise, the Buckeye fan gets out of his car uninjured, he too feeling fortunate to have survived.

The Wolverine fan walks over to the Buckeye fan and says, "Hey, man, I think this is a sign that we should put away our petty differences and live as friends instead of being rivals."

The Buckeye fan thinks for a moment and says, "You know, you're absolutely right! We should be friends. In fact, I'm going to see if something else survived the wreck."

The Buckeye fan then pops open his trunk and removes a full, undamaged bottle of Jack Daniel's. He says to the Wolverine, "I think this is another sign--we should toast to our newfound friendship." The Wolverine fan agrees and grabs the bottle. After sucking down half of the bottle, the Wolverine fan hands it back to the Buckeye fan and says, "Your turn!"

The Buckeye fan calmly twists the cap back on the bottle, throws the rest of the bottle over the bridge into the river and says, "Nah, I think I'll just wait for the cops to show up."

Brad about: Rivalry Week

Brad about: hey drafting monkeys
follow along and tell me if I get what you are doing. You have a 2d shape in plan. Let says its a circle. You extrude the circle so now you have a cylinder. You want a cone or semi hemishpere top?

Draw the 2d shape of the section on the top of cylinder in the vertical axis. Use the revolve tool to spin a 2d line into a 3d shape.

or put it in sketchup like Berg said. Sketchup is awesome at this kind of stuff.

Brad about: hey drafting monkeys
can you explode an ellipse? they are not congurant arcs really, so what do they break down to. microstation will not let you explode them...

can't you draw the 2d profile of the "top" and revolve it around the cylinder. you know what I mean?

Brad about: Andrew Lee English . . .
Bub, I spent 1/2 an hour looking for that article at lunch. I knew Bill Simmons wrote it, but the title did not pop off for me.

I think Andy is clearly OK here. Most of my Columbus Friends root for the one city or the other, usually depending on their parents. What gets me going here are those that are bandwagon opposites. There are those from Columbus that like Michigan simply to be Mr. Opposite. This bothers me. Andy, why are you a Michigan Fan? If either, You have family in, from, or went to Michigan then there is no fault and you are free to continue your support.

However I had kids in High School that did it to be Mr Opposite. That never made sense to me. No different if I was from Pittsburgh and openly rooted for the Browns for the attention.

Brad about: Holy Shit
Has everyone seen this play? Holy Shit.  What a Play

Brad about: speaking of stupid TV...
Berg. You are wrong on so many levels. HDMI is digital. Component is analog, but they both use red, blue, green wave lengths to transmit the data. HDMI was developed by the computer industry. Component by the video industry. The only reason HDMI exists is because the digital computer industry made it up. HDMI has horrible loss effect over longer than 3 or 4 feet. Component does not. Biggest factor is cost. If you want to pay for the same thing, go right ahead. You think its quality, but its all in your perception that "I payed more for it, so it must be better"

Brad about: speaking of stupid TV...
HD is awesome. You will wonder how you ever lived without it.

You don't need HDMI, why spend the huge amount of money. Component Video will get you the exact same picture quality. Anyone who tells you differently is trying to sell you something.

Brad about: Proof that coaches dont know everything.
Did everyone hear that the drive Griese put together yesterday at the end of the Bears game was without coaches. The on field communication mysteriously went out for the Bears with 1:52 to go. I have been telling my dad all year that I could call better plays on Madden. Way to go Bears (But our season is still shit. Small victories I guess.)

Brad about: sports
Biggie, The Rule of 2007 Losers, clearly states that said team must enter the Finals, THEN completely take a shit. Had Cleveland won last night, I swear I was going to Vegas and putting a large sum of money agaisnt them. (I looked up flights).

No finals. No Rule of 2007 Losers. I will grant you partial credit on taking a shit in the last 3 games. Maybe we give you an asterisk. Or maybe your team should learn how to bat. Your cold spell came three games too early.

Brad about: football
I agree too Bub. But I dont think they are that different tough. The football system could be better, but that doesnt make me dislike the sport itself.

Brad about: home record
wow... but she might kill you first!

Brad about: Manny
So.. if the game last night would have even been close, or if Boston had gone on to lose, how can you defend manny? yeah his numbers are awesome, but he personally threw away 2 runs. What if you would have needed those. How do you justify that?

Brad about: football
College Ranking are a complete joke until all of the games have been played. I am a huge believer in some form of a playoff, but the BCS has done its job of putting the best teams together to play each other (most years). there are just too many teams in college football not to have some "human imput".

Bub, Wes, do you hate march madness? Those teams are "picked" by human input.

I put no judgement on the Buckeyes right now. Berg, I would hold off on the No. 1 talk right now...lets get through at least 2 or 3 of our upcoming Big Ten games.

Brad about: archiflash cards
Cathryn, I will sell you mine.

Brad about: DEMO
What a clean slate to work with.. Great Job! It does look like a lot of work. I liked the triumphal last piece of roof is down shot of Andy.

Brad about: sports
Wow.. the energy from Buffalo during the game was amazing. I was out of my seat yelling at the tv which I dont do except for the Bears.

why oh why did Jauron sit back and play prevent. You play prevent you ALWAYS lose. Earlier in the game you were able to press Romo into mistakes. That last 3 minutes B-Lo sat back and gave him the field. I feel for you buffaloians today.

Brad about: sports n stuff n music
Bub, I didn't read your post...but what you said is exactly right. the "academy" players are whom teams will loan out. The relegation race at the end of the season is usually equally as interesting as the championship race.

Brad about: sports n stuff n music
There are 1st, 2nd and 3rd divisions of soccer teams in most countries. They are however not related like the MLB.

Soccer has player loans too. One team will farm out a player to another so that they get playing time. sometimes those players have to play against the team that owns their long term rights.

Brad about: karma....
Apparently I used up my sports karma..I will not speak of the NFL.

Remember this is still the 2007 calendar year. The Indians will make to the WS.. and lose in 4 games. Karma.

Brad about: sporting points...
Free at last, Free at last, Thank God Almighty we are Free (of Rex) at last!!!!

Does that sum up my thoughts? I will point out that I dont think a simple QB change will fix our woes.. we look terrible on O-fense and D-fence. Rex was just the worst performer on a bad team right now. We potentially have lost 5 starting defensive pro-bowlers for the year. The front office is not disclosing anything about the injuries from Sunday. Wes, I know your Bills have the injury bug.. but we might be right there with you.

Last year Lovie could agrue keeping Grossman in because we were so far in front. Now we are 2 games back of Green Bay and 1 back of the Lions whom we play Sunday. I personally think Kyle Orton should be our long term answer... but Greise's experience is what we need right now.

Brad about:
Dougums.. you can rip it to a CD as wave format from iTunes. Wes would then have to rip it back to mp3.... As long as the burn is good, there will be no loss in quality, its just a pain in the ass.

Brad about: Thewsums
I am completely on the fence regarding Health Care.. But what I do know repeats Bubs last comment. Personal responsibility.

When Alicia had her clot hospital stay, she developed a reaction to Heprin. The doctor prescribed for her the only know drug to prevent clots that was not heprin based. Ten years ago she may have died. The drug is so new that her insurance company, (which is awesome) still was not going to allow it. each shot was like $5,000. She needed it for 2 weeks. Insurance did not want to pay for it... you do the math.

Meanwhile the chick in the bed next to her was there to recieve a new heart thanks to medicare. Single mother with 3 kids from different fathers, chain smoker, digianosed with a heart mumer when she was younger. the kicker is that because she was from out of town, (southern ohio) OSU was willing to put her family up in a free place to stay while she waited for a heart. So like any good family all 15 of them (probally cousins and aunts) left their double wides to come to stay in a big apartment in the big city for FREE... but Alicia could not her insurance to pay for a shot that would help. This other family because they were poor were able to abuse the system.

Brad about: Farnsworth House
I dragged Alicia to Mies' Farnsworth House on Saturday way outside Chicago. They renovated and opened the house to the public in 2004. I posted some pics if anyone is interested.

During the midwest flooding last month, the Fox River which the house sits on was the 2nd highest it has been since the house was built. The River was over the lower platform, but crested below the level of the house. In 1996, the river was 5ft above the floor.   Farnsworth House

Brad about: Weekend
Everyone enjoy. We are off to Chicago to see the Bears v Chiefs. I am praying that we fine some offense.

Brad about: Cheaters
I agree Wes. I am just saying that it "seems" less hurtful because they have a backup

Brad about: Cheaters
I agree with Wes. But given the fact that they have (2) 1st rounder this year because of their dealing last year... it seems less harsh. But in reality, they still only have 1 pick in 2 years.

Brad about: Attica!!!
I was watching this discovery show on our prison system the other day. Even in max security prisons the inmates are not cut off from the outside world enough to stop contraban... it was amazing the stuff collected. It was crazy to see how creative the inmates are at making things out of the stuff they get their hands on. Most scary is the amount of drug use in our prisons... How the fuck do they get drugs? Guards?. Cooks? All of prison mail is searched. Doesn't everyone enter through a checkpoint. Put drug dogs to inspect people and supplies.

Brad about: kent state
In all of OSU's infinite ticket wisdom, our game was changed to KSU. Alicia and I will be attending afterall...

Brad about: not to pile on the Browns but...
seriously... why not leftwich. I am not saying his a franchise QB, he has proved that. But isn't he a better alternative than Dorsey for one year while you prep Quinn?

Brad about: the patriots are cheaters
anything the sports guy writes involving anything boston is so heavily bias its not even readable... but the pats looked pretty good, however I think everyone needs to calm down a bit. Its one freaking game. Let the teams play out a couple of game before passing holy judgement on them.

Brad about: the patriots are cheaters
I know... but it is still funny to me.

Brad about: footballs
By the way are you forgeting that he sat out a lot of training camp because of his holdout....he is not ready to play with the big boys yet.

Brad about: footballs
You start these kids too early and it ruins them. If you think he is going to be "your" guy. You should be wishing that he sits and learns this year....Your front office should have realized that your quarterback situtaion was terrible this offseason and brought in a seasoned backup if they did not have confeidence in Fyre. Now you should sign Leftwich for the year.

Brad about: footballs
I havent had a chance to post today, so I am picking up from the earlier converstaion, but wanted to interject.

Wes, the pictures of the Everett injury were terrible. I hope he gets better. and I feel for your other injuries too, then to lose on the last second field goal. tough stuff. I was not sure what to take from the bears game. i am pissed that we lost, but it was to be expected. Our defense was amazing for 3 quarters. Dispite the terrible excuse for an offense we have we lost control of the game on a fluke punt turnover, where a shitty punt bounced off our guy 30 yards from where it should have been. Game Over from that point. I just dont now how to feel from what I saw.

We lost Mike Brown for the 3rd straight season(the guy is fraglie, maybe free saftey is not the best position for him!!!). but hey at least were are not Michigan fans.. its hard when the lions are the best team in the state!!!

Brad about: Cavemen
I am serious. I am tired of the hour long sci-fi dramas like heros or shows like 24. the one hour police, hospital or courtroom shows. the group of couple friends living in the city with the bachalor single guy tag a long. any of the reality shows......TV networks are boring. the pump out the same shows over and over.

I think the premise of working a show around a commerical is funny. It will probally turn out to be the exact same thing as the shows I was bitching about above...but I am curious to see the storylines.

Brad about: Cavemen
I was just reading another article on the show.... is anyone else as excited for an episode as me. I think the commericals are awesome, and I want to see how they do making them into 30 min storylines.

Also, how many Gieco ads will there be? I put the early over/ under at 3.

Brad about: GO GATORS!!

Brad about: flash back

Brad about: flash back
App St. is the back to back national champs in Divison I-AA. They could probally beat kent!. But no it would not be as big an upset, simply because Michigan was supposed to wipe the floor with everyone this year.

Brad about: flash back
Yeah,,, that has to be a very bitter pill to swallow. I am kind of sorry?... But not really! The Michigan loss made top billing here in the paper over the buckeye game.

All that hope for a championship, gone. 3 probale first round picks who stayed at school to win. Hopes smashed.. its kind of funny.

Brad about: civil war
we all think that it is offensive because as wes points out we are all from areas above the mason dixon line....the flag means southern pride to many georigians... The first flag raised over Okinawa?? during WWII was the stars and bars, raised by 2 black soliders from Georgia. in 1945 it did not mean what it means today. because of the civil rights movement it should no longer be used because common belief now it that it is offensive. I think it symbolizies igronance and white trash because for the most part that is whom associaties with it.

Brad about: civil war
wes is right... we completely confuse the civil war and the confederacy with slavery.

the confederecy was about state rights over the national rights. the South felt that their local governments had priority over the feds. slavery was just one issue.

the stars and bars did not represent slavery at the time. it has come to represent that through reconstruction and the civil rights movement. Same thing applies to the swastica. It did not mean predjustice until hilter got a hold of it. If Al Queda starts using a Teddy Bear as its symbol then it will come to mean something else...(sorry for the spelling)

Brad about: Go Bears
Even tough its preseason... Bear Down, Chicago Bears! Cleveland, too bad you won't put B.Q. in agaisn't the 1st team D.

Brad about: Preseason
Is anyone else bothered by the "its just preseason" coach speak? Stop lieing and blaming it on preseason. For those not counting at home, Rex has had three fumbled snaps in 3 quarters of play in the last two games. COME ON..

He and coaches blame it on the preseason. As if its OK because nothing is on the line. Chicago TV went by a middle school during football practice and asked the 7th grade quarterback what was difficult about the snap. His response, "Its not hard for me, I just grab the ball when the center gives it to me.. I think Rex is just dumb....." Priceless.

Brad about: week 1 roundup
Derek and I tried to get everyone to a game.... No one wanted.. Your Loss.

Derek and I traveled up to Milan to see Inter Play.. That was awesome. But the crazyness of fiorentina was intense too. The firemen on the field behind the goal paticullarly stand out for me. Or when they "Bus In" the opposing fans to their own special gate to sit their own special section that is shielded from the others with glass and barbed wire walls.

Brad about: soccer update
You forgot to mention the chelsea/liverpool draw, in which the ref awarded a Penlty Kick to Chelsea and after the game apologized stating that it was not a foul.

Man United is off to its worst start in like 10 years.

And Fiorentina plays AC Milan on Mon Sept 3 at noon, on Fox Soccer...DVR!!!

Brad about: Mill Street
Mill Street? I have never heard of it. Is it a columbus chain?

Brad about: mr.
Since the Raiders had the No 1 pick, they have the option of "pre-negotiating" with the players. From what I understand money is usually discussed prior to the draft. So why would the Raiders pick a guy No 1 if they didn't agree to the type of money he was after.

But Russell is equally confusing. Why pass up the chance to start? By his holding out the Raiders secure Dante, who will now start without question. Most likely Dante will wash out and Russell will get his chance this year, but you never know.

Brad about: soccer update
No, actually I root for liverpool. I cant stand chelsea either. A long time ago my godmother got me a liverpool scarf after a visit. Not too long after I got to see them play in a friendly here in the states. Been a fan since. It still hurts me that Owen plays for Newcastle...

Brad about: soccer update
I am pumped for Liverpool v Chelsea on Sun . It will be the first test of the year between some of the elite teams.

Brad about: change of topic...
Berg are you going to go dork crazy for the "stardust" fantasy movie coming out this weekend? Get your D&D dice ready and listen to LOR...It seems to be right in your wheelhouse... I will admit it does have a crazy number of good actors tough.

Brad about:
actually if you really ask me,,, i blame espn for crupting americans sports views. ESPN makes it impossible to follow anything other than NBA, MLB and football. They hardly give any attention to hockey either. Soccer highlight are nonexistent. You really have to try hard ot follow anything else. Sportscenter has completely gotten away from what made it great 10 years ago.. Sports Highlights. They should be running all sports, not the ones they choose.

Brad about: soccer
Just because ESPN "ocho" carries dodgeball, that doesnt make it more popular than soccer. TV rating are bullshit when it comes to popularity. Put soccer right behind golf on your list. It is a lot easier for ESPN to commit tv time to stupid half hour shit like darts and poker than spend a larger time slot on soccer. If the Bublilican Party doesnt do something to curtail immigration, soccer and cricket will be way up on that list....kidding kinda.. but you should see all the cricket being played by our house. I fell like i am in india sometimes.

Brad about: soccer
Attendence will be up for a while...jerseys will sell for a while. Even if he stays healthy (which I doubt) and plays for even a couple of years, I predict his draw will fade. the impact could be felt if those families and kids that decide to go and see him, come back when he is gone. An MLS game is like a AA baseball game. You go becasue you take your families and enjoy a day at the ball park. Not becuase you follow the team with heart and soul..thats what the big league is for. In soccers case that is the european leagues. This will never change. Our best players go overseas, and those that cant hack it come back (landon donovan,, big pussy)

Brad about: soccer
EPL = English Premier League.

Beckman will not make one difference. Wes, your radio guy is exactly right. What makes watching the english league or italian league exciting is their ablity to score amazing goals...the MLS does not do that because it is the rec league equivlant of professional soccer. The only reason Beckham came is because his huge euro contracts were gone, he is too old to make in impact overthere..., MLS was willing to overpay for his celebrity status and so that his wife can try her hand at tv and movies.

MLS pays his contract as they do with every other player. The League owns the players and "allocates" them to teams. You think Beckham would have come had he been paid the same amount and been told he was going to Columbus. I think not....

Brad about: Beckham makes his debut (well, according to the announcers)
I am super pumped for the start of EPL this year... I havent been able to watch much the past couple of years because we didnt have FSC. Now with DVR, I wont miss much!

I could really care less about Beckman and the MSL. The quality of play is terrible and reflects very poorly on soccer as a hold. No one ,and I mean no one, can finish in MLS. Beckman will provide a couple of highlight reel goals, but he wont make the quality of play that much better, hes not that kind of player....

Brad about: Steely McBeam
So does the new Steelers mascot make them totally awesome... or kind of a Boilermaker knock off...

The bears went to "Staley" as their mascot a couple of years ago, but he just looks like a bg teddy bear. I liked the season ticket holder they let run around in pregame with an actual bear skin and head on... He looked like a bad ass.  Steely McBeam

Brad about: ala carte
Congress req'd the cable monolopies to offer this years ago. I do not think anything ever came of it.. The cable companies basically were going to charge a preminum for ala carte channels. making the standard packages still a better deal

With our HD cable we get like 600 channels....150 of which are "pay as you go", 150 are sports packages that you have to add on, 150 are the premium movie channels so that leaves like 150- 200 channels that we actually get. I would say we watch 50 of those. But to get the HD package I have to have all this other crap.

I hate cable providers, tv news media, and the oil companies.....don't even get me started on those greedy bastards...

Brad about: Random thoughts from the weekend.
1. Biggie, Cathyrn, Alicia and I were part of the Worlds Largest Irish Jig at the Dublin Irish Festivle.

2. Did anyone see Tiger dismantle the PGA on Sunday. 1 stroke back in the final group. He wins by 8 strokes at one of the harder events on the tour.

3. Tigers playing partner made a comment in the Media several weeks ago that Tiger looked "as beatable as ever". A fan asked Rory if Tiger still looked beatable as he walked to the 10th tee after making double and falling 5 strokes back. Rory asked the police to kick him out...Rory's a Dick and sore loser.

4. Was anyone else sick of the ESPN "Michael Irvin and some other people" Hall of Fame Induction. Give me a break.

5. I learned that the Big Ten is televising most of their games on the BIG TEN NETWORK this year. ABC/ESPN wont have many games on public airwaves. I am getting sick of all sports being packaged in speciality networks. Isn't that why the networks sell Adversiting? So now they rape their sponsers and fan alike.. nice!

Brad about:
Its not as much about the teams, its more about coming to see cool friends in columbus, and the atmosphere of the campus, the band and everything else.....

Brad about:
OSU home tickets are $60 each this year through OSU Alumni... $86 is not really that bad. If you have never been to an OSU game the money is well spent.

this is from the Kent Ticket office, "If you are unable to attend games at Kent State, we do have a program you can donate them back and we will give them to children’s organizations so that they may come to a game." You can probally write off your $26 investment.

Brad about: footballs
I am glad we dumped him. His latest arrest turned out to be nothing, but he put himself in bad situtations time and time again. He is not that great of a player either....

Brad about: Bills/Bears Trade
All right. that makes more sense to me. The bears website politely forgot to mention the 6th round pick you would have recieved, or the 7th round pick you got.

Really that ends up being a good deal for both of us. We needed some help at DT. Walker should take some of the heat and double teams off of Tommie Harris.

Brad about: Bills/Bears Trade
So Bills Fans. You ended up getting a fifth round pick for Spikes and Holcomb.

Tell me that you got someone else in that original Philly Trade.

Brad about: movies
Bale was awesome in The Prestige. I thought he did a good job in batman begins too. Wes the dragon movie was 'Reign of Fire' and it was a terrible movie. Matthew McConaughey's bald head and chin strap/goatee facial hair was not a good look.

Brad about: Tour de Fuck Up
this a post from Jim Caple I just read, funny how he used the same analogy I did,

"sponsors invest millions to compete for the publicity the Tour brings. Why then drop your top rider when he was days from winning the sport's biggest prize just for violating team rules? That's like the Cavaliers kicking LeBron James off the team just before the seventh game of the NBA Finals because he broke curfew. And if Rabobank was suspicious of these things last month, why did they let him ride in the Tour?"

Brad about: Tour de Fuck Up
I hope the subject is more to your liking....

I have alway understood the drafting and positioning thing but I completely overlooked the fact that The Tour invites teams to participate. I always tought that anyone could sign up and go like a marathon. There is a set number of riders each team must "field".

Brad about: Tour de F**k Up
I read that too Bub,,, but are the teams required to report those finding to the tour? If so, why was he even able to start the race?

If not, why would the team care? It would be like the Cavs dropping Lebron during the NBA Finals because he missed a preseason practice or something.

Brad about: Tour de F**k Up
So I guess cycling races are team events.. I just never knew this. I thought it was just the same sponsors for multiple riders, but the tour invites teams of riders. How come I did not know that?
So when one rider cheats the other 8 riders are forced out too.

Brad about: Tour de F**k Up
Can anyone explain to me why the tour leader was kicked out of the race? From what I read he has not failed any of the 17 drug tests, but his "team" kicked him off, therefore kicking him out of the race.

What the f***?

Do you have to be on a team to win an indivual sport? Ok so his team drops him, Can't he pick and complete the tour as an independent?

Brad about: footballs
Oh for those of you keeping score at home, that makes 5 straight sports teams with some afflitation to me to make the championship this year.
If you are looking to make some money, bet agaisnt the Destroyers. I guarrantee they lose.

Brad about: footballs
I cant tell if your question is sarcastic??, but I am excited. Biggie and I had season tickets a couple of years ago. Arena Football is fun to watch.

Did anyone see the interception for touchdown run they scored to put them in the championship game? It was awesome. I think you can find it on ESPN.

4. & 5. I have not watched Sportscenter in almost 3 years. I decided to remove my Page 2 shortcut last month becuase both now suck. I am sick of the "espn era" and who is awesome now crap,, Sport is awesome because it has a secondary relationship with history. I love History. I hate the made up self righteous ESPN crap they now promote. ESPN is not the only history and you have no impact on the games. You are there to serve as a means so I may watch sports. not interprete it for me. I can do that just fine my own. Give me the scores, throw a couple of witty catch lines and move on.

Brad about: footballs
wow.. what an ass. Way to piss off the only team to give you a mercy fuck.. He is from Dublin. Prissy Bitch.
All drafties should get a 2 year contract based on what position they were drafted in. That team should get first right of refusal after 2 years during a "free agent" like year. load the contracts with incentives if they perform well. socialize the whole draft contract process. It ruins all the fun of preseason, distracts the front offices with useless shit, and in the end half of these guys lay shit bricks in the first couple of years and drop out of league.

Brad about: New Digs
In the middle of everything, Alicia and I finally sold our place about a month ago, and this past weekend we came to terms on a new place! We are staying in Dublin and moving a whole 3 miles... We are heading closer to the Scioto River (alittle more central). We had been looking at fixer-uper's in Upper Arlington (where I grew up) but decided on a newer place that is more complete. We have some wall paper to remove and some painting to do but it is a wonderful place. We are pretty pumped.
Highlights: Huge Yard, Deck, Fish Pond for Berg!.. nice open plan. ridiculously over-sized Master Suite with sitting room, three part walk-in closet and huge master bath. Theater Room in basement with (6) recliner chairs, audio system and 60" DLP TV built into the wall. I guess the guy didn't want to tear it all out so they included it in! Anyway, we can offically host more than (1) couple at a time. We move June 23rd, then head off for Maine.   Pictures of the New Digs

Brad about: Sports Suck
The first 3 months of the year taught me that it is terrible to be a sports fan when things suddenly go terribly wrong. Winning teams that choke. i would rather get beat by a team that just played incredible than to feel like my team choked. Remember Kent Basketball agaisnt Indiana. Indiana was lights out. NO ONE would have beaten them on that day.
The higher the team takes you the harder you fall. As bitter as I am about it all, I still enjoyed this season of sports more than I can remember for a long time. Winning is awesome. But after all that winning, losing was a hard pill to swallow.
Wes you at least have some personal history to give you hope. The Red Sox battled back from the edge to win it all. I hope the Sabres do the same.

I just happended to flip past the sox game last night right as manny stepped to the plate. I watched the 1st HR. I flipped away, becuase I still wasn't that interested. As I made it around the channels a second time the fans were going nuts. I guess it was the third HR. So I stayed and watched the 4th. Amazing stuff. I figured that had to be some kind of record.

No. Its been done before, granted only 5 times, but one was just last year. that really took all the excitement out of it for me. for me to continue enjoying it, it would have had to been a once in a lifetime thing.

And what with Dice-K. I thought he was supposed to be the 2nd coming of Cy Young? From what I've read he's having troubles, am I missing something. Think it will just take time?

You have to make your product available to the masses at what ever the cost.

Brad about: Playoffs
The NHL did not push for the games to be televised on a MAJOR NETWORK. Time Warner Mid Ohio carries 800 channels, Versus is not one of the them. Not a major network.

My point is that the NHL is missing a hugh marketing potential. I am sure columbus is not the only market blacked out of games by the networks the NHL chooses to do business with.
I understand ESPN and NBC not wanting to pay for the regualar season broadcast rights. It would be a potential risk. The NHL should have worked harder to give away the playoffs. maybe not ABC, NBC's flagship networks, ut one of their afflites. Like they did for the Olympics. Hockey on Bravo or shit like that.

Brad about: Playoffs
Hockey and Baseball are both sports that I enjoy watching the playoffs. There are far too many games for me to keep up with during the regualr season, and if I have a chance to go to a game live I usually take it. But I do try to watch the playoffs when I can.
Now we live in a hockey market. granted we have a terrible team, but its a hockey market none the less. Can you guess how many of the playoff hockey games have been televised here? ZERO. The NHL better suck it up and at least give away the playoff rights to a major network.
People get exicited for playoffs even when they don't care about the regular seasons. Its the best teams playing for something at stake. The NHL is just plain stupid to let a possible source of convert fans go by. Most Die Hard fans will have already purchased the Center Ice TV package for the regular season. What does the NHL have to lose to just give away the broadcast rights?

Brad about: Draft
Hey Wes and Sweet J, You want to go ahead and give you the run down on the Ohio State draft picks now so I dont have to on draft day?

Brad about: Maine
What would we do with dawgs if we were in Boston for the weekend?

Brad about:
Biggie, what do you do with your family on july 4th? X-mas, Easter, Thanksgiving, those I understand. Newton Falls is weird.

Brad about:
Oh and by the way, 4th of july in maine sounds great. We will definitely have to produce our own fireworks show over the ocean!!!

I will check with Alicia later when she gets out of treatment. If the 4th does not work out, the only time we can not do, is August.

Brad about:
This is the worst year ever. EVER! So lets be honest, with everything we have been going through, the importance of sports is truely secondary. But COME ON. It would at least be nice to celebrate something. But to let ALL THREE of my teams, in the ONLY SPORTS I even care about, ALL reach the CHAMPIONSHIPS with 3 months of each other and ALL THREE made to look foolish is just plain mean. Talk about being kicked in the nuts. I am more than demolarized, I am truely crushed. I am going to retire to the solitude of my world and soob....

Brad about:

Brad about: weather....
I don't know what is like where everyone else is, but its 74 deg and partly sunny. I am stir crazy and want to be outside. Yey for spring. The kick in the nuts is that it might snow here this weekend.

Brad about:
Think Positive Brownies....At least he can't run for 300 yards on you anymore. (But I dont think he will ever gain 300 yard either)

But won't it be a real kick in the ass for both Cleveland and Buffalo when McGahee breaks 300 against you.

Brad about:
My major beef with Studio 60 was that every episode was basically the same. They had to write a show, there were some bumps along the way...blah, blah blah...ultimately the topics were kind of uniteresting and way to similar.
I was a huge west wing fan. It had a very similar feel. Some issue came up and somebody had to deal with it, blah blah blah. The difference to me was the topics were better, but you still didn't have to watch every episode. The drama of Saturday Night Live was just not that interesting. The drama of our oval office was....

Brad about:
the networks are way to quick to pull shows. Seinfield had terrible ratings the first year. They fiddle with show time slots more, they have gotten this bright idea to play re-runs in the middle of the season to extend them..the networks are going to kill themselves.

Brad about:
Studio 60 was very well written with interesting characters, but the show went nowhere. if you missed an epidsode, oh well, you could easily pick up the next week. It just didn't draw people in the way lost, heros do.

Brad about: Black Donelleys
It's like a TV-PG version of Sopranos. In order to be better it would have to be on Cable.... Instead of showing tommy swinging a sledge hammer with some blood splatter, Sopranos would show the dead body being hit with a sledge hammer...big difference.
I haven't made up my mind on the show yet. I will give it a couple more shows to develop before passing judgement

Brad about:
There was something else going on with Rivera. He must have been on the outs with the front office. I heard he was pissed that the bears would not let him talk to teams during the 2 wek prep for the superbowl when all the teams hired coaches. Lot of good that did, his defense still played shitty and he wasn't prepared anyway.

Brad about:
Yeah, I have had a great 24 hours...what a bull shit trade. A fuckin 2nd round pick for our number one back...bullshit move.
And as much as I dont want to see Briggs traded, what did he expect to happen. He turned down a $33 million dollar deal that would have made him the 2nd highest defensive player on the team (behind Urlacher). Now he will make a guarranted 7.5 mil this year and has a chance to make another run at the superbowl. As a worst case I hope he get traded to the lions or browns and spends the rest of his career on losing teams. (but at least he gets the money!!!!)...what an ass.

Brad about: What is wrong with people....
So there was a story in this mornings paper here.. A 63 year old mentally handicap prison inmate was let out of the county jail (5 min south of downtown) on Jan 18th after serving a 30 drug posession sentence. After his family could not pick him up at the jail his case worker (remember he is mentally handicap) didnt feel like waiting around for him so she told the jail to hold till the next day. (agaisnt prison policy) YESTERDAY (6-1/2 weeks) they found the mans body frozen to death after he was let go and wandered around until he died of exposure. Neither his family, or case worker the next day, days or weeks even thought to ask, hey where's James? I am all for Darwinism, but the family, case worker, or jail officers should face charges on this one.
Personally I think the case worker should go to jail for being a lazy heartless bitch, the court appointed her responsible and she could have arranged for free transport to the mental facility where he was supposed to go if she could not get him.  Inmate Freezes to Death

Brad about:
Alicia and I have been watching season 1 from netflix. It really is awesome. The comedy and storylines are great. For those that haven't seen an episode, rent or borrow one.

Brad about: Weeds
Has anyone ever caught an episode of Weeds? Its on Showtime but won a bunch of Golden Globes..

Brad about:
My friend does streaming music. its ok. You have to have a huge server to store it all. he ran into trouble with port access issues between all of us. i cant listen at work. he set it up so it plays by request. Unless you have ridiculous bandwidth bdc radio would only stream 1 song at a time.
Its ok for my small group of friends. We all enjoy the same music so there is not too much of an issue. But you cant just dial up a song whenever you want. I see that as a real problem with this group.
If you need to take down the file sharing I would understand, but I dont see bdc radio as a great subsitute unless you find to way to do indiviual streams like yahoo launchcast.

Brad about: meeting minutes
yeah biggie. we have a big section at the top of our minutes for ommissions/corrections. its great to put the people to speak up too much in there just to point out that they cant make up their mind....

Brad about: Update
Alicia's first couple of days of treatment have gone really well. She hasn't had any of the bad side effects yet. Her energy level is still up and she has not lost her appetite. So far so good. The nurses said it may take a couple of days for the treatments to start taking there toll, but we shall see. Anyway Alicia's spirits are great and I just wanted to say Hi and give a quick update.

Brad about: holy awesome!
Bonnaroo is awesome. Pat and Dave have been. This years line up is especially good though. Did you notice MANU CHAO? For what you get the $250 ticket is almost nothing. They rape you on food and drinks and the sleeping can be a little crowded. It has gotten to big and "mainstream" for its own good.

Brad about: weather
Columbus and ODOT have the salt trucks and plows to do the main streets only. The suburbs typically do a really good job, but the city of columbus is terrible. The people here are just that bad of drivers. It rains in the summer and it takes 45 min to get home.
Alicia called me because she could not get home from work. She parked her car in a lot and walked home.

Brad about: All that I can muster...
I am amazed how similar the BCS game and super bowl were. Its crazy.
Opening kickoff,
terrible quarterbacks,
defenses that seemingly could not stop anything.
Good coaching staffs that could not adjust to what was going on.
The only real difference is that despite all those things, (and what clearly should have been a blowout) we were still only 1 score from being in the lead with 11 minutes to play. I had some hope, although it was clear that the bears defense would never stop the colts. Oh wait, i forgot we have Grossman to fuckin throw the game away.
2007 sucks. take me back to december. It was 60 degrees and both of my teams were on top. Now its -2 deg, and both teams are losers who could not hold their own jocks in the biggest games of the year. embarrassing.

Brad about: Be a parent..
I think I have said this before but, I truely belive airlines should put "cry rooms" into their planes. A small section devoted to families with small children. I have an extreme level of patience most of the time, but on our flight to London last May the girl behind me carried on for 5 hours!

Brad about: Alicia
Hey everyone... Just in case some of you didn't know, Alicia had a operation today to remove one of her ovaries. We found a cyst a couple of weeks ago after a very early morning emergency room visit. She is doing fine and is now resting here at home.
I did not say anything sooner because we did not know the severity of her operation until they were able to scope her. It turns out she was able to have out-patient surgery and should be back to normal next week. There was a chance that it could have been cancerous and she would need a much more serious surgery and a whole different set of problems. As it turns out, everything is fine and she is doing well. Just wanted to let everyone know so you can keep her in your thoughts.

Brad about: B-LO Hockey
Dont worry too much you will kill the bluejackets in 2 weeks. Can't wait to see it.

Brad about: line backers
Colvin might not have gottn injuried had he stayed.. He wes awesome when he left, thats all I am saying.

Brad about: Denver
Oh. and Wes, Briggs has not resigned yet, but if he does not resign this off season they will hit him with the "franchise tag" and you can try for him next year. The Bears already made him an offer that he turned down. The Bears better step up and pay him. We lost Roosevelt Colvin that way. Can you imagine, Urlacher, Briggs and Colvin as your linebacker corps. Wow.
If Bradley could stay heathly I would take his jersey but the guy is fragile.

Brad about: Denver
Colorado Skiing was awesome. Denver was f'em cold when we left tough. The high was 2 deg thrus and fri. Highlights of the week were Pat sliding 200 yards down one of the bowls and not getting hurt, Fred hiking to the summit and dropping in from 13,834 feet on Peak 8. A 3,800 foot vertical drop back to the town of Breckenridge (which you can ski all in one shot).

Brad about: footballs
Go Bears!... They did just enough to win, and will surely put me in an early grave. I did not think they played as bad as the media made it out to be. That game was only two dropped passes away from being a blow out. We won so thats all that matters to me.
I love that no one gives us any shot at winning this weekend. Gotta Love the "instant hero" culture of the media,,,ah... what a compling story the saints are, blow me.

Brad about: Go Bucks
Alicia and I are off to Denver for some skiing. Everyone take care. Go Bucks, Go Bears. Talk to everyone in a couple of weeks.
O-H....
I-O....

Brad about: Duke Lacrosse
My original point is that regardless of whether or not they should have been in the situation is irrelevent. Duke jumped to cancel the season. Duke jumped to kick them out of school. The DA jumped to "search" for something to prosicute them because he was up for relection. If they were guilty, fine, kick them out. Go to jail. Cancel the lacrosse season. But they were not guilty. Every person that took action too soon, ie. Duke President, the DA and every one else on down the line should lose their job. being that they are "rich white" kids, I hope they do american thing and sue for damages.

Brad about: Duke Lacrosse
It is unbelieveble how badly Duke, the county DA and all those in the city police have handled this case. I do not understand how the school could cancel the sports season, kick the defendents out of school and then once they are aquited, say, "Oh we are sorry, Please come back to school and play Lacrosse" Fuck Duke.
Isn't America the land of innocent till proven guilty. It really pisses me off how these kids were hung out to dry.

Brad about: footballs
Berg, Garcia has played at a probowl level everywhere but Cleveland. Coincidence? The "clowns" need to find a O-Line and your playermakers need to man up and earn their money. I think you should have let Cribbs paly some quarterback. At least he could run for life and make something happen. If it makes you feel any better you can have Rex.

Brad about: weather
The weather is just f'ed up. Denver is gonna get another 2 feet of snow, Dayton got a record 5" of snow yesterday, and it was sunny/raining here. Columbus has not even recorded snowfall in Dec (I think). Damn El Nino...

Brad about: stats
You are getting caught up in the ESPN sports instant history phase...

Brad about: stats
slow down Bub....I refuse to get in the middle of your browns bashing...but the merger is what made football as WE know it. Football to our generation.
You can not tell me that all of the hall famers from both conferences and the conference championships dont mean anything. They mean an awful lot to my dad, they meant a lot to my grandfather. I give all the champions from both conferences credit. Football was just fine before the merger, the super bowls have proven to make it better. You cant strip that history from anyone.

Brad about: Fired Up
Rex actually won 4 games for us in the beginning of the season. In the last 6 games two of which we lost because He could not manage turnovers, we should have lost 2 more. It is only by the grace of god that we won 2 of those games neither of which Rex helped in. We should be 8-4. To win in the playoffs you need to have some momentum, play consitent and limit turnovers. None of that will happen with Rex. Greise is one of the leagues most efficent passers. He has downsides too, but all we need to win is consitency.

Brad about: Fired Up
You really want to get me fired up.. Try arguing that Chicago is better off with Rex, and that we still have a shot at making the super bowl with him in. When he shows up Monday night in St. Louis and lays another egg on national tv and the bears front office does not sit him I will lose my mind.

Brad about: bcs
The system sucks and its not worth aruging about...I am happy with the Florida matchup. OSU and Florida have never played in the history of their programs.
Unless Michigan played Florida NO ONE can say that one team better than the other. What is so terrible about the system is that you are not comparing apples to apples. There is no common thread to base a comparsion on.

Agree with Dickey, Go with Canon Bigs... Several friends have bought the Canon Powershot SD600. Super tiny, 6 mega pixel. Huge Display. Actually has a view finder (dont buy one without) it will extend your battery life by twice if you dont use the display to take pictures. My buddy Fred who is a digital camera freak swears by Canon. He bought this one for his mom, girl friend and he got Yoder to buy one. All are very happy.  Canon

Brad about: Hockey, hey...
I while ago I posted that Buffalo is playing Columbus in Hockey, here Fri, Jan 26th @ 7 pm. The Voits, Bigs, Alicia and I will be attending. All are welcome to join us and make it a Columbus Weekend. I am going to purchase tickets after Competition Weekend. We are going to get lower bowl seats. They will be $76 a piece with service.
If anyone wants to join us bring money next weekend. For those not going to make it to comp weekend let me know if you would like to go. We can work something out.

Brad about: re: Madden
tony saragousa?? is the worst, and serves less purpose than the token sideline chicks,, at least they are mostly attractive. the goose is too fat to actually move around quick enough to see the action and as a result the viewer at home has a better idea of what is going on...

Brad about: football
Berg,,, The Bears..I will agree that their schedule (so far) has been on the weak side, but they just beat the 49ers in 5 minutes. I am not kidding. Its not that their schedule is so weak that makes them good right now. Its how the beat up these weak teams.
In 5 minutes the game was over yesterday. I was at the game. It was incredible. 41-0 in the 1st half. The whole stadium thought we were going to see a franchise record for points. 61 is the team high in Bears history (Gale Sayers rushed for 6 tds)
We play on the road @ giants, @ jets & @ patriots in back to back to back weeks. Then minn at home & @ rams. Lets see what they do through that stretch then we can talk about weak schedule.

Brad about: ARE
Hey Architects... did you guys see that the mechanical/electrcial section is going to a fill in the blank and multiple choice format starting in Jan. I just took that test last weekend.
Fill in the blank format would scare the shit out of me.
The ME section has historically the lowest passing rate. It is also the most "terminology" driven section I took. (not to mention that the terms are not stuff we deal with daily). For all that can, run out and take it before the new year. I think it will save you some heart ache.

Brad about: Comp Weekend.
Cool. Just wondering. It wont be needed, because Team Ohio will win at least 3 events to take back the belt outright!

Brad about: Comp Weekend.
Bub. What is the tie breaker if 2 teams win 2 events each and the other team wins 1? Do teams A & B compete in some event for the Belt?

Brad about: site update
yeah.. login would be much easier.

Brad about: new man
This summer I was at my buddies lake house. In the process of jumping off the dock with my beer, and raft...I must have pushed off the end of an old, untreated dock board, you know on the end of the grain..
It looked like someone shot buckshot of splitters into my foot. I pulled 25-30 pieces of wood from my foot. I really should have gone to the hospital it was that bad. Becuase the wood was so brittle the pieces would break apart under the skin. It took me about a month to finally get everything. My foot was so cut up I still have scars.
Message. Dont jump off docks in bare feet with beer.

Brad about: sappy sappy
What ref bows to the crowd after the game? His card "salute" is the best.

Brad about: morning!
Central and Western Ohio had a really bad ice storm 2 years ago. It literally looked like someone came in with a hugh saw about the same height on every tree, over thousands of acres (only in unpopulated areas). I can not even imagine what the chaos would be in a city.

Brad about: VACATIONS
My Columbus gang is planning a 3 night trip to Breckenridge coupled with several more nights in Denver. My buddy Yoder now lives in Denver, so we are all trying to get out to see him the first weekend after New Years. I dont know for sure how many are thinking of going from here (I have a 9 person max in our townhome), but if anyone is interested I have lots of details.

Brad about: Daily Show
The montage of the "Presidents Job" the other day was priceless. Did anyone else see it?,, or how about the lead story last night, "Nuke Kid on the Block" genius...The daily show will be filming here in columbus. I sent in a request to get tickets, but have not heard anything so I am guessing that I did not get them

Brad about:
Oh yeah? I had not noticed....

I called Wes in the 2nd quarter and asked him if they were going to at least try and win? You know things are going well when the only thing I was pissed about was giving up a late fourth quarter score and not preserving the shut out. For those of you not counting, that makes only 2 offensive touchdowns scored against us this year!

Brad about: random football thoughts...
Wes, you mean, Tommie Harris. Michael Haynes was cut before the season. We do have a rookie end named mike anderson who is second string and still got 2 sacks.
Bub. Berrian was a huge signing for you. Already has 4 catches over 40 yards this season....I am just giddy.

Brad about: random football thoughts...
Bring on the Bills! So my Dad calls me last night at 11:15 pm as the game was wrapping up. I answered the phone and all he could say was, "Did you see that coming?" I was not sure what was more amazing, the fact that my dad was up at 11:15 (he is usually in bed by 8!), just how dominent the D was, or where the fuck this offense came from. 37 pts on Seattle. No 2 in league scoring behind indy! DA BEARS......

Brad about: H-moon
Alicia tried to take one. I think she gave it to Abby or Leanne to take to the room. We should have known how that would have ended, we never saw or heard from the plant again. So I think, to answer your question. Yes, the bus driver took one home!

Brad about: ummm
no, no, no... Columbus has way too much money for its own good.
But what is shocking, is the "whole of Western NY" part. You would think that there are plently of ranches in the hills, or mansions on the lake, or just large farms that are valued plus 1 million. Wegmans and Kodak CEO's have got to have that kind of money.

Brad about: ummm
Only (8) houses in all of western NY have sold for over 1 million?...There has got be plenty more valued at over 1 million right? Can that really be correct? If so, Man..... Western NY real estate is cheap, I can think of whole subdivisons priced over the 1 million mark, not that I could ever live in one.

maybe it is two years.. what ever. I do know that they want one of the ohio teams, so they would only sign the nationals to a short term agreement. What if neither the reds or indians will come here, the nationals sign somewhere else, and no one will sign a deal. We will have a brand new empty stadium on tax payer dollars.

biggie. We signed with the Nationals for 2007. But both the reds and indians minor league team deals expire in 2008. The clippers would only sign a year deal with the nationals so they could after the ohio teams.

Let my Bears conjure up a offense.
Give me another Home Playoff Game in Jan Chicago.

Make Lloyd Carrs stupid "I gonna kill you" blank face, permanment after a third victory in a row here at the shoe.
And please, let my Football Year celebration last into January. No matter who your football team is, Football Season is never long enough! And we can all agree to that.

Brad about: weekend of competition
I think the three small teams idea is awesome. More teams with less players=more fun for everyone. I was just talking shit. Plus it will eliminate the abuse of "ringers" or home town sports like the Team B-Lo Madden sweep of a couple of years ago.
For Cornhole, the most important thing if we are running 3 boards is to have 3 sets of the same bags. If they are new then fine, but they have to be same weight, filling, and fabric. This is more important to me than the boards.

Brad about: weekend of competition
Team affliation was I remember always State of High School Graduation first. I remember this because Team Buffalo tried very hard to secure the unsigned rights to my buddy Yoder who played college football. He graduated in NY and therefore B-Lo had first right of refusal.
I really dont care who on is on what team. But I do think under the current collect bargining agreement Team Ohio is entitled to compenstation from Team PA if they choose to sign two of our current members.

Brad about: Rant alert
Yes....but I was really trying say that having some navigation links on the post pages would make it easier to jump between forums. As for the tables thing....I think if your page is lets say 3 tables. (1-for the actual posts, 1-for the input forms, and 1-for the navigation links), you can make posts and nav tables auto-refresh without messing with the input forms. Like if you are on IM, you could be typing away and new posts can still get added before you upload yours...

Brad about: Rant alert
Could you use the message icon and rant icons on your main page on both of the posting pages.. Each icon could blink when new posts are added and one could toggle between the posting pages with out going to the main page. just my 2 cents.....My problem, I leave the posts up in the background and never go to the main page.. so I never know when there are new posts. I think if they are in separate tables, you can make one table auto refresh at some interval if people leave the page up in the background. I am rambling on.....and my opinion really doesnt matter anyway.

I have never listened to anything she has ever said, but she is so far right that that the needle is almost on Democrat (or Space Alien)..almost an excat quote from this morning, "the widows of 9/11 are enjoying their spouses deaths so they can get the million dollar media engagments" She makes me embrassed to call myself conservative.

Berg, I thought you were a computer junkie....just select the songs. right click on one and select "find album info" It will force the info into the files after you find it.

Brad about: Alitalia
Bub.. Alicia and I just flew out of Frankfurt International.. They were crazy intense about security because of the World Cup. We had three checkpoints to go through including 2 pat downs (one by a Hiedi Klum look a like!) You may have to claim your baggage after arriving internationally, go threw customs, then change terminals to fly out to another EU country. You will know if you have to reclaim your bags just follow the people. Be patient, its a very busy place.

Brad about: Ciao
Hey Everyone. I thought I would quickly tell everyone that Wes and Leanne are off to Greece on their Honeymoon. Everything in Florence was awesome. Wes and Leanne will have some amazing pcitures. We can't wait to see everyone soon. We will try to get some pictures up when we get back Tuesday. We woke up this morning to Berg in his boxers on the couch again with the porn on tv... Long night at the ness. Talk to you later... off to dinner in Germany.

Brad about: W
Alicia and I are going to buy a very cheap pay as you go phone while there. I will find out if in coming calls are free. Some are, some are not. If they are free, will would be happy to turn it on. We leave Sun for London. Everyone take care, for those that are going, travel safe. We will see everyone when we get back.

Brad about: remeber when I said that Skip Baylas was a fuck...
Baylas is an idoit. No way Santonio Holmes goes before Hawk. I would take Carpenter over Holmes even.. bold but Carpenter could be more versatile in the NFL than even Hawk.,,,, and no way "unproven" Culter goes to Norm Chow in Tenn. over Leinart. Take away his press pass, he's an idiot.

Brad about: Solider Field Chicago
I totally agree. But the issue it raises is what is considered a historic landmark and who decides when too much is too much. I know chicago used some kind of national funding to help with the renovation costs. That was 3 years ago...some some federal buerocrat is on a power trip and wanted to make a point so they remove the National Historic Landmark status? How is the history of the place changed? Suddenly because Chicago made the building MORE USUABLE it no longer is historic? AIA gave the design and national award. America is too quick to describe something as historic.

Brad about: Solider Field Chicago
Interesting Article on the Solider Field Renovation in Chicago. The Renovation has been a catalyst for naysayers and supports in Chicago since the plan was unveiled...but the article raises a good point about what is the definition of historic renovation. Let me note the I completely and utterly disagree with this editorial's comments, but everyone is allowed their opinion.  Solider Field

Brad about: DVD Shrink
Hey Wes.. attached is the link I used for DVD Shrink. You have to find it on another website that hosts the download, but if you go to the "how" link they list guides on sites that do host the download. I do not use Nero, or anything else. You can straight rip with just DVD Shrink..let me know if are still having problems.  http://www.dvdshrink.org/what.html

Everyone remember to bring a white long sleeve to wear under the shirts..Sat is supposed to be a high of 40. It looks like we arent going to get the an Ohio March 65 deg day.

Biggie and I could not think of a better bar close to him to try and watch the game. Classics is easy to get to, very close to our house and A good rendevous point. I would agree that Friday should be low key.. so after the game we pack up and head to Biggie's. His house is now closer to ours by ten minutes...On the orginal email flyer I have a general map, and our addresses. Let me know if everyone would like better maps.

Brad about: st patty
Kantz, send me your email, I seem to have lost it from New Years. I will send you the plans for Sat Night. Wes, find out what Hoffman and Laura want to do with their shirts. If they want them fine, if not and I cant get rid of them they get to buy them anyway.

Brad about: reggae jew
Pats older Brother is in a Reggae band in the Cleveland Area.. They travel around a bit. They are actually really awesome, here is a link to the schedule.  Carlos Jones Band

Brad about: The Crawl
Hey All. I am exicted to say that the shirts have come in. They look awesome, I hope everyone enjoys them. The Final Cost per Shirt will $16.00 (we tried to keep them at 15 a piece but with shipping it is what it is) We had 38 shirt orders, and I expect several more people to show up. This might be the biggest crawl ever. 50+ people! Can't wait to see you all.

Brad about: Tests
I am 5 for 5... I am taking the MEP here soon and we be done with the multiple choice. I found the Flash Cards to be very helpful. I was never a flash card guy in school, however I found them to be easy o pick up and study for a short period and let go. The got copies of older study books to use. They are nice, but harder for me to sit for two hours at a time and really read and test a couple of chapters. I recommend the flash cards..and speaking of flash cards I have a pracitally brand new set now for sale!!! If anyone is interested I am willing to sell them off. When taking the Construction Services Test really read through the AIA general Conditions, Owner/Architect Contract, and Owner/Contractor Contract. Neither the flash cards or the books for me went into enough detail, and thats what 60% of the test is. There are copies of each in back of the AIA student handbook we had to buy for ethics.

Brad about: crawling
Thank you to everyone who has sent me their T-Shirt orders... To those who haven't, don't forget to do so tomorrow. I confirmed that I will NOT be able to add to the order after tomorrow, so don't miss out if you want one..... Thanks.

Brad about: St Pattys Day
Hello All... Biggie and I have finalized are shirt thoughts for this years event. We need to order by next wednesday. Shirts will be $15 or so(final price to be determined based on quantity). Would everyone please email me their size requests at bpauling@markwoodarch.com by Wednesday Morning if wih for a shirt. The design and shirt are pretty sweet. We are exicted about them. A flyer will be sent out next week as well. Hope to hear from everyone.

Brad about: St Patty's Day
Hey.. Biggie and I are working on a flyer and looking into some tee shirt options. Alicia asked yesterday if everyone wanted shirts this year, but no one replied. Is there interest? What do people consider a resonible cost, I could not remember what the years past have cost.

Brad about: Wow...

Brad about: Random Fact
Hey Wes did you see that the bills hired the bears ex DB coach as your def coord. Did you know he was also a coach at Kent State from 88-91

Brad about: SHH!!!
One more thing, then I have to work. Randel El threw the best pass of the day. After that hit he took on the punt return, I thought he wouldn't have the use of his legs,,,wow. Then to roll out and throw that ball, perfect. Nothing like taking the 12th mans nuts and stomping on them. Parkers run was nice too.

Brad about: SHH!!!
My problem with the refs is two fold. Why take a group that did not work together all year. Take the best crew. Refs have to work like teams.. Why can't the league connect the play clock to an audible single like in basketball. Maybe only the ump needs to hear it but still. It fucked me, and should have had more of an impact yesterday. Come on we have the technology. Make the ref wear an ear piece or something.

Brad about: SHH!!!
Spoken like a true steeler, Bub. What else are you supposed to say...With absolute no bias in the game, Pittsburg is very lucky. Seatte could have buried you in the first half, but they didnt execute when they needed it. The "pushoff" is a no call, 99% of the time in this league. Both guys were touching either other. Hope's momentum took him left becuase he got faked and was moving left...jackson move was faster. Thats the only call I was upset about because it was so iffy so early in the game. Big Ben may have been in, he may not have been in. The camera was not clear enough at the exact frame needed to tell what was his glove and what was the ball. Correct Call, becuase they called it a touchdown on the field.

Brad about: stupid mondays
I had the pleasure of installing a dishwasher on Sat. Our old motor blew up. It really sucks when Applicances go down. I feel like my spoiled Suburban Ass is helpless. But installing them is really not hard.

Did anyone else see that Chipotle had an IPO today. Original Value per share at opening, $22. By mid day shares were at $45. Damn I missed out on this one too.

Brad about: pbs nerdlings
Wes, maybe I will try to rip the show to DVD, then you dont have to buy it. I have been trying to get the Civil War series on PBS that way.

Brad about: A
Very well done Aaron. What is the story behind the disk?... Let me say, you make me feel like a big nothing. You Paint, do the Architect thing, and compose/record? Man I am a loser.

Brad about: in other sports news...
Yeah, good luck with that Jauron Thing...It worked out great for us. 5 years with a 35-46 record and thats with a gifted overacheiving 13-3 season (which by the way was in no way the coaching, even though he did get coach of the year). You do have a much better core of players than we did. But you need an ass kicker who get them to perform. Jauron is not that, sorry.

Brad about: unBEARable
Well I have returned a humble man. I was so dejected last night I didnt want to even talk. Ask Alicia, I answered every question during the ride home with one word answers. My dad and I just sat there, not talking about anything on the way back to my grandmas. utter depression. The worst part is that we played good enough to win on offense. (Really, we had a guy at quarterback that only had 39 pass attempts this season. Scored more than 20 points for only the 4th time this year.) But man our defense was sleep walking. Just terrible. We lost 4 defensive backs and by the fourth we had a no name rookie third stringer (who didnt play in training camp) covering Steve Smith. Fuckin stupid. And you are exactly right Wes, Give that guy more over the top support. We let our Pro Bowl corner cover Ricky Prohel the entire game. Good fucking coaching move there. Tillamn blows. He was shit all season. Too let Smith beat him on the 2nd play of the game, then not care enough to let Smith take that jump ball out of his hands. Fired. Pack up your locker. Give him to the Browns......Sorry I needed to vent. Thats it Football is dead to me for the year. Good luck steeelers. Fuck you Steve Smith, I hope you get some kind of vaginal diesease on those big ass lips (has anyone else noticed that he has the biggest lips ever. He looks like Mr Potatoe Head)... Sorry for the long rant.

Brad about: ARE Rant
So.. I just took the Lateral Forces exam this morning. One would think that the code forumlas for seismic shear and wind pressure would be high priorities judging by the amount of space devoted to it in the study materials? Not on the test I got. Not one question. Tip. Study everything your can on overturning moments. I had 8 problem solving questions about basically the same f*cking thing.........Also why the fuck do they not give the results at the end of the test. Its multiple choice. Stupid NCARB.

Brad about: Bears Smack
Well Wes I do talk some smack, but I prefer to not do it here. Simple reason, I am embaressed that we failed to beat any of your guys teams. We lost to the Bills in Preseason(Ohwell, but we went to that game). Browns and Bengals in weeks 3 and 4, then the Steelers last week. I have little street credit here. I will admit that in those games it just didnt look like the same team. But I do talk alot of shit to my Co-Worker Packer Fan. The thing that I am most pumped about is the fact that every single defensive player (second string included) is signed through 2006. Fact, we could get even better!. With some continued progress on Offense we are a serious threat. Regardless of what you AFC boys do, I got my playoff ticket.

Brad about: bungles win the division
Derek. I am happy for you and other half of my local friends that are Bengals Fans and have quietly sat by for the past 15 years and been the NFL punching bag. I have been way too busy riding my own Bears Defense High. Too bad we can't beat the AFC. 1 and 3 against AFC North. 9-1 against the NFC.

Brad about: dork archi question
Wow Berg...I swear I dont work all that hard. Talk to Biggie, He is the one around here that works weekends, nights... In fact I have been rather bored for the last couple months, I have spent my work time learning Flash MX, developing a new website, learning SketchUp, and studing for ARE's. Unforutlatey Berg you were not my downfall, absolute boredom was. If you had rubbed off on me I would have done all of the above and ignored a deadline like you did in school when you taught yourself 3d Cad during finals. PS. For All of the architects, everyone should check out SketchUp if you dont already know what it is...probally hands down the easiest 3d program ever.

Brad about: dork archi question
Oce has a product that is packaged on their website under free software. This program works well, it was developed by Autodesk as "Apprentice" but Oce purchased the rights... Autodesk still has something called Buzzsaw, and all are used to send send files to print shops. It offers WYSIWYG layouts, but you can view, and print inhouse small copies. It also offers the abilty to package pdf files inwith plt... Do you use a print shop for the creation of your sets? The big shops around here allow you to send your files via the web right to their print queus. I would use pdf instead also. Better long term archive ablity...

Brad about: DVD
Well Laura, I do love Seinfeld, but to be honest I cant keep track of which season is which. With them replyed so much the order just gets mixed...sorry. I dislike the 1st the most, how's that? Sorry I am no help.

Brad about: ski trip anyone?
Last thought for now I have to work alittle..I know this seems weird to say and I am proablly jinking myself, but the Bears look to have home playoff game in Jan. (please..please..please) Can we look into a weekend later in the month or possibly Feb.

Brad about: ski trip anyone?
When we went on a Monday last year the place was empty. I recommend a long Buffalo weekend with skiing on the end. It worked out great for us last year.

Brad about: ski trip anyone?
Wes. I checked the same thing out a month ago. The link I added is the condos on the West end of the slopes. They are ski-in/ski-out. I remember last year when we went I found a 3 bedroom in this place on expedia or something for like $130 total on a weekday.   SnowPine Village

Brad about: The Voit Wedding
We are going to talk to our travel agent and get her feel on ticket prices...I believe she told me that the winter travel sales will be the best. I found Detriot to London for $248 round trip if you travel before March 31 on Northwest. I will see what see has to say. She hooked us up with crazy low deals for our honeymoon. Alcia and I are defintely in for an apartment. Are these rates typically Sun to Sun... or are they more flexible, like Tues to Tues?

Is it permissable to discuss Italy plans in this forum? If not oh well. 1.Who all is planning on going? 2.Any thoughts on getting place in Florence Together? 3.How long are people thinking of staying? Hi all. I wanted to comment matchups this weekend. It is rare that of my favorite teams they all matchup agaisnt the favorties of my friends. Let me review. Bears v Browns. Go Bears. OSU v Penn St. Go Bucks. ChiSox v RedSox. Go ChiSox. (Most of you know that I dont follow baseball, but I do root for anything Chicago. Plus the ChiSox was my Grandfathers Team). Opening Home game for the Jackets. What a weekend. I also realize that I have now vexed all of my teams.

I will dig out my notes that I took after the tests, and give you guys a heads up of things that surprised me.....

Brad about: ARE
If you work on CD's and specifications on a regular office basis, M&M will be a piece of cake. I scheduled, took and passed in two weeks with very little studing, plus its a very short test. Pre-Design was helpful to take first because the material is vast. You could look at it both ways. I am scheduled for both of the structures tests, and studing more or less at the same time, altough its been a real bitch getting anyting done in the summer.

Brad about: UFC - Wild Kingdom
I propose a group of unarmed midgets vs a pack of wolves... Smaller in size, but team v team, wolves win.

Brad about: UFC - Wild Kingdom
Man you guys are awesome. As I sort through piles of paperwork trying to remove a contractor from a state project (which is as painful as pulling your own teeth in a Tom Hanks Cast Away manner). I take pause to eat and catch up todays random topic of discussion. This is one of the best... I think group of midgets could take a lion. Altough the sheer size of the lion would make it difficult.
